I've wondered what it would be like living in Canada. I've been to Niagara Falls, and from what I saw I loved. On top of that, everything I've heard about as far as policies etc seem almost too good to be true. But then I wonder if I'm viewing Canada now like immigrants to America felt back in the 1910s, with your streets made out of gold and good work for all. Plus there are things that would keep me here, as well, whether it's family or what have you.

I think I have a starry-eyed view of Canada too, honestly. /blush I love my family, but they are very insistent that their way is the only way. Considering my dad and stepmother tried to have me actually taken away from my biological mother when I was a child because she let me watch an oh-so-violent "Walker, Texas Ranger" episode with her, I'm a little bit terrified that they might try to steal my kids (if I have any) if they ever find out I'm an atheist. It sounds paranoid, but really. Trying to get someone's kid taken away because you don't approve of a TV show they watched is insane, and they feel MUCH more strongly about religion than television. My husband's family kinda rocks though, I'd be sad to move away from them. I have never wanted to live in Canada...

But why is it so bad that I choose to believe (or not believe) in something different than them? Like it has any consequence in their life. But, we've all heard the arguments before, and I'm not doting on a religion, so hopefully people don't get all upset about this.

Maybe I just had more understanding parents? None of my brothers or myself really go to church anymore unless its a family gathering and thats mostly for the family and even though they want us to go they let us make our own decisions and don't belittle us or anything for making the choices that we do... I think they're just happy that we're all doing relatively well and are happy and such... though they do want grand kids lol... I'm always surprised its my dad that wants em...

I don't know how well I'd do with step parents... I most likely wouldn't listen to them ever unless I really liked em... even then... I pay my parents a certain amount of respect in general but I don't think I'd feel that way towards someone who wasn't unless they had actually raised me or something... It's like my aunt used to try and tell me what to do and I'd give the look... "who the hell do you think you are?" lol...

I had an opportunity to take a jorb up in Canada a few years ago. I turned it down, mainly because it really sounded waaaaay too good to be true, so there had to be a catch. Also it was with my old WoW guild leader, who I didn't really know well enough to trust moving in with and working with on such a job. Some days I wonder what would life be like if I had taken it. Either I'd be dead, broke, or living pretty damn comfortably. 33% odds of success. Too low for me. Now to do my end of day work. Not to mention that you'd be the king of some WoW forum thread instead of Ni.
