yesterday, fking Farfetch was trolling on me. was EV training a new Zorua lvl 10 for atk+, and after a while, these ducks started popping all over the place, ranging from lvl 13~50..... on a lvl 1~5 area >.<

so um yeah, I just played DNF for like an hour and seriously can't see what people are whining about :/

Story is good, graphics quality isn't the bst but (wahhhhhhhh) if you seriously only play a game for the graphics... kindly stop playing video games altogether kthx. The controls are a bit awkward at first but i'm getting used to them, i'll have to see if there is 360 gamepad support and if so that'll be nice if I want to be lazy.

Few minor issues with getting the key activated but a quick call to them and they found out my (albeit stupid) mistake :p

Currently the only thing I cannot get access to that I should be able to is the Duke's Big Package thing that came with the pre order but i'm sure that will be fixed soon, if not i'll just call them again... they were really nice and helpful (got some nice brit guy on the phone :p)

First of all, who are you to say that graphics should not matter to anyone? I personally don't value them as highly as the gameplay, but visual quality has been a key element in video games since the SNES era. The only reason they've been making newer and newer consoles is because they can make better graphics. They make better TVs so you can utilize those better graphics. Better PVRs to be able to record the better graphics. Saying you can't appreciate the graphics in a video game is like saying you can't appreciate a beautiful girl.

Even then, there's bad graphics, and then there's Duke Nukem. The game is brown on brown, the enemies are brown, the weapons are brown, and to throw some creativity in, sometimes there's a darker or lighter shade of brown.

Weapons are bland, vehicle/turret section are ***, the enemies are far from creative, health regeneration is horribly inconsistent, and maps are even more straightforward and linear than any other FPS on the market.

None of the weapons feel fun to use, even the RPG which was awesome in DN3D, and you can't get enough ammo for any guns. That's not a problem though, because before every fight, there's some sort of unlimited ammo box and overpowered weapons.

The major problem of the game is that you don't do the main thing often enough. Shooting enemies. There's times where you can play for 5 minutes, making progress all the time, and not stuck in cutscenes, and there's just not enemies. Then when you do get to the enemies, your weapons run out of ammo and you run back and forth between unlimited ammo boxes.

Exploration is utterly pointless, with only two weapons and such limited ammo. There's no collectible items throughout, you have regenerating health, and there's no real way to get better angles on enemies, so there's really no point to even look around. Just charge through areas full of enemies with no thinking or anything.

The game tries to create an illusion of freedom, making it look like there are multiple paths, but you will be killed when you start exploring at all. Literally. You will die.

The developers didn't have the logic to put checkpoints AFTER cutscenes, so if you end up dying and reloading a cutscene, you have to watch it over agaaaaain.

Voice acting is...Bad. Sure, it's part of the appeal of Duke Nukem, but it's just really bad. Might have been funny in DN3D, but we're not 12 years old anymore.

There are a lot of sections where you're just walking around picking things up and talking to people. I understand some people may enjoy that, but you can have more fun doing that in real life.

Best part of the game is the pinball minigame, if you ask me. The only real good things I can think of is that the puzzles are inventive and fun to do. And you're right. Duke Nukem is not a puzzle game. It's not even an adventure game. That's totally backwards.





This game is good enough to be an Xbox Live Arcade game. It nowhere near lives up to the 13 years of hype, especially considering it was being developed off and on for 11 of those years. If this game looks "good" to you, that's probably just nostalgia talking. If you truly did like the game, then either your standards are far too low, or you haven't played many FPS games.
