With the new Magic Damage multiplier helping Tier 1 spell damage as much as it is, I was wondering how much does the INT <> MAB ratio change as far as optimal gear for Tier 1's vs. Tier 4/5's?

I was playing around with Tier 1's last night in a run-of-the-mill nuking set + un-augmented Soothsayer Staff (since I can't decide on a path yet)on RDM. Ended up nuking Faded Cracklaw every 1-2 seconds for 600-900 damage with +25 Gain-INT up.

Not sure how it pertains to RDM nuking sets (I admittedly didn't do much nuking once RDM got some half decent melee gear again), but Mote has a really good post on the BLM guide about how INT/MAB effect the different spells under the new formula and a little info on what's known about magic damage, too.

Just got Ghostfyre Cape and tried it vs Romanus Cape on Thunder 1.

On a bee in Rolanberry Fields-

Ghostfyre Cape: 790
Romanus Cape: 789

Exact same numbers on a Chapuli on Ceizak Battlegrounds. So, looks like if you don't have a Taubran Cape, Ghostfyre Cape is the next best thing for Tier 1's.

Romanus would probably over take it for anything higher. But if you are Tier 1 nuke spamming, it should be more optimal. Especially since no Addle+, lol.
