A shame it can't be more sophisticated and filter certain words within a tell or LS chat to inform you when a real invite comes up or something of the like.

Only problem with that is when you hear it the first thing that comes to mind is blind invite.

What would be nice is if we could filter specific words and make certain announcements with em. For example if your name and the word "PT" or "party" are mentioned in the linkshell it could say "Linkshell party invitation" or something similar for getting a tell.

Or maybe even zone names or level sync numbers mentioned so you can tell whether or not to ignore an invite or not. Can't count how many times i've been invited to a valkrum dunes party when my search comment says 60+ only ~_~

You can do this with Chatmon by making custom filters in the xml file.

That's awesome, thanks for the insight on that. Unfortunately I have little to know knowledge on xml coding so I'm rather SOL on that part. But it helps to have it running in background with the volume cranked if you're desperately seeking for a PT and going into another room for awhile.

I have no idea why anyone would want to use chatmon full time.

Running through WG with a bazaar would mean about 30 "You have been examined".

I just use it for LFP. But my flag up, turn on chatmon and got play on my xbox.

Then just listen out for "Incoming Tell" or "Party invitation"

I turn it off once I am in the party.

Cause you can configure it to NOT spam you. Following the instructions on windower.net it isn't even that hard to figure out how.

As per Tyndal's comment, with Chatmon you can enable and disable any of these functions through the short xml file with these statements, depending on whether you do or don't want all that "annoying ***." lol Just delete the examine line and you aren't being notified on /checks anymore. My favorite is DisableOnFocus because then it only works when ffxi is out of focus, i.e. IM'ing or whoring the ffxiah forums!

It's really not as dumb as it's being pegged. The Windower Devs are smarty pants, srsly.

You can also configure it to play any .wav file. I made my own .wav to replace the annoying chatmon voice.

You can also set it up to make a sound when a debuff\buff wears from a mob or player.

Yes I could configure it, but personally I only want it working while I am LFP as that is the only time I am likely to be afk waiting for something to happen.

So I would have to filter it so it only makes noises when I get a tell or invitation.

But I don't need "Incoming Tell" or "Party invitation" when I am setting up for dynamis (or whatever), as I am at the keyboard and can see it myself. If I am in a conversation with some one via tell I also don't want it making noises every time they reply.

To my knowledge I can't make it filter so that it only makes a noise when I am LFP for merits/exp (not an event) and not talking to a friend (unless they are the one inviting me) and I am afk.

Let me know if I am wrong.

So I simply turn it on when all of the above are true, and turn it off again once I get a party invite.

"ChatMon also blocks RMT spam ads. This list is automatically updated, but you can create a custom file too."

I got it default with the program.

With this setting, when you're LFG or AFK, you simply tab out of ffxi, and it will alert . When you're in-game, it will be disabled.

I hate that. lol I replaced my /tell buzzer with a Chocobo chortle sound, and every time I get faked out by an RMT tell, it just makes me sad. :| Really handy during alliance/event down-time or in general when you aren't paying attention 100% since you can even setup triggers for nicknames people have for you.

That wouldn't work for me at all... imagine how often it would go off if I set it to respond to "night".

I don't have it, I just have a chime go off when I get a /tell. But every time someone says {lie} I think they are talking to me. ~.~ I feel ur pain, Nightfyre!

As sad as it is, I have to disable the sound to bump my FPS up, so this is also a big reason myself or others may find use out of it. Didn't think to mention until the tell chime was mentioned!

Lol. Closed server, no RMT /tells, and I'd have to say, the NMs are quite nice here. lol Simurgh, Serket... all kinds of NMs get left up because they don't get camped.

Don't forget that you don't mind if someone else gets the claim because you think they're not actually RMT.
