So I got an upgrade to Windows 8 for 14.99 and was wondering is it worth it to go from 7 to 8?
I don't have one of those touch pcs or whatever the hell it is. Really the only time to upgrade to 8 is for safety.I my self would ether loud 8 then have 7 on the computer as well and just boot in to what i need when i need it.

I think he meant load instead of loud?

I'm still trying to figure out the "for safety" bit, the rest is a garbled attempt at the English language, and can easily be ignored as it's a rather silly proposition in the first place.

At first I hated it, but I found a little app called "Classic Shell" that gives you the start menu and makes Windows 8 a lot better. You can avoid the dreadful "Metro" interface or whatever MS renamed it.

yeah, and once again you don't know what you're talking about.
Or you're saying it in a way that makes you look like you don't.
While there are some security features of Windows 8, they're rather useless for educated users. There's a few bits that are better though, I'll hand it that.

You obviously don't, as what you said is straight out not true and shows you have a severe lack of understanding.
Then again I don't feel like continue arguing with a guy who doesn't know how to operate google.

Kawar, essential security patches for windows 7 will still be provided for a long time. XP (which was released in 2001) is still receiving extended support for SP3, which will terminate next year.
If Microsoft supports 7 for the same period of time, it will come off extended support in 2022.

Windows 8 is more idiot proof.
But its an awful system to use, especially in the event something does go wrong its new, still buggy and has an awful interface.
I do not advise using this unless you are PC savvy!

I need to go hunt down a x64 floppy drive emulator now /grumble
(I use it for some legacy software that requires a activator that's saved on the floppy, unfortunately if you transfer it to the hdd it removes it from the floppy, which won't work unless you make a backup of that system, and only needed it on one system, which isn't the case, so I found that emulating the floppy and copying the file works, I haven't tried to see if I can copy it from 1 hdd to another without issue, I'll have to try that.)
