Various politicians and media refusing signs saying "This home is proudly gun free", for the obvious reasons, yet the primary publication they pursue, saw fit to publish a list of names/addresses for registered gun owners.

This video and is making my head hurt. Jame's O'Keef is a joke- he spews out occasional facts along with tons of right-wing false premises. Publishing gun information isn't the same as posting a sign that's "gun free." I'll proudly display a sign that says this home is "gun free" along with this...

Secondly the Freedom of Information Act legally protects these journalists to publish this information.

Personally, I would like to know who has a gun in my neighborhood. I wouldn't want my child playing in a home with a gun in it. This should be a municipal matter not a federal matter tbh.

But you don't have to be a very good detective to take gun registration information and turn it into "no gun registration" information.

And personally, I wouldn't want my kids playing at a house that required me to do internet research on the owners. So there's that.

:)

Edit: (that's not a sarcastic smiley - I don't think you're being unreasonable at all, I'm just kind of being an ***.)

See, this video isn't saying to gun or no gun home. O'Keef is actually alluding to no gun = unprotected home, to further his radical views, which I think is ridiculous.

Yea, rely on someone else to protect you!!

What are they gonna do anyway? They will call the police who will show up with a bunch of guns to protect themselves. You just better hope they arrive before your killed.

And fyi.. security system company's are not that hard to bypass.

FYI I also have a cat to protect my home.

That is absolutely your choice.

I however would rather not take the massive gamble of waiting 10+ minutes for law enforcement if there's an armed burglar in my home.

Basically. If anything happens to the people who's homes have been listed, the blood is on these people's hands. You do not paint a target on someone. More, if a burglar invades these homes, and the burglar is killed, that blood is also on their hands.

I've presented this argumented b4, and I'll do it again:

Where the f#ck are you living? If YOU feel in such danger that one's home/family is in jeopardy that need to have a firearm, for the purposes of protection(huge difference than having one for gaming), than I think you need to evaluate WHERE you are living and perhaps move elsewhere.

During college summers I worked for a security company and installed systems. There are a number of ways to get around it if you really want to break in to someone's home, but the vast majority of criminals are just looking to score some money for their drug addiction - meaning they're not too bright when it comes to circumventing alarm systems.

I live in an area that's quite safe. I am strongly pro gun but do not myself own one. All the same I'd have to ask the following question of you: where the hell do you live that home invasion is completely and utterly non-existent?

Ugh! You had me until the Chelsea Handler blurb. How I do enjoy your pop-culture references, but...

...How she has a career I'll never understand. Have you seen her stand-up?!? LCD humor!

Carry on.

Hey guess what, Take a town with a 1% violent crime rate, put a cop on every street, and if the criminal gets in your house, there's still not a damn thing the cops can do unless the criminal hesitates and is stupid about his course of action. If he's in your house and wants to kill you, he'll kill you if you don't kill him.

You are your last line of defense, and you are the only defense you can count on.

A good satirical commercial would be a security operator saying "Hello? Are you there?" repeatedly while the camera panned out on a phone lying on the floor with some blood spatters around the phone.

That's not satire.

Also, I believe there's a clear obfuscation between burglary and first degree murder here. A burglar does not walk into a house intending to kill someone.

Someone breaks into your home, you have no idea what they're intending. Are you supposed to ask them? Surely they'll tell the truth cuz mama raised them that way.

When something bad happens, it's best to be prepared for the worst. If all they do is steal your ***, that's awesome.

It is best to be prepared for the worst, but the worst is the worst. By using "worst case" scenario so freely, without even citing that as an assumption, we're inferring that worst case is the only case, or the most common case, when in fact it's the rarity.

When it comes to protecting an innocent (homeowner), or criminal life, you go with the innocent.

Someone breaks into your home, you drop them on the floor. I am apalled that some people would give them "a chance".

I'm not even implying that you would, I don't know either way, but I've met several who say they would. That if someone breaks into your home, you should hide and be quiet. Call the police if you can.
