Widowmaker or Laceratrice. Dies Irae in Abyssea I think.

Edit: Etourdissante and Resolution will probably be the best though.

Is there a clear winner between Widowmaker and Laceratrice? I've been using Laceratrice, but I feel like I see more people using Widowmaker.

Also, Etourdissante beats Jingang Greatsword?

Laceratrice beats Widowmaker in most situations. In abyssea, which -- let's be honest -- is really the only place you should be until you have an Ukon, Dies Irae trounces them both. It also wins for 75 content etc.

I think so, I could be wrong. 4 more damage, less delay.

It would be close, with etoutdissante obviously winning durring mighty strikes. But war really shouldn't be using a gs unless is a rag and high buffs, upheaval with dies irae being preferable in lower buff situations when accuracy isn't a issue.

You'd have to give up too much in your TP phase(for STP) to justify the 4 extra dmg I'd think.

I don't think so. I use Etou, and I'm fairly sure I keep a 6hit with it as well. But I only use it for zerging, and only till I finish Rag.

Added an Upheaval MAX for Bravura + Ukonvasara:

Dilaram's if no Huginn feet.

i think you forgot to add this to the 1st page (or i just couldnt find it lol) there is Upheaval MID, Upheaval Mighty Strikes MAX, Conq WS MAX (Upheaval aswell) but couldn't find this

1) what would be the best order for Ares+1 gear to go for when only owing a ukon99? Legs 1st i am pretty sure, thought about body 2nd as nice idle and Uph body or head as 2nd, but my ebody dont has the required augment and who knows when i ever get that.. or hands as 2nd (see 2nd question)?

2) qustion about the notice on Ukon WS max:

Quote:
Hands: Heca +1 are generally the best for most highly buffed situations, but you're going to want to use Phorcys Mitts or Avant Gauntlets +1 if you need the attack/accuracy. Ares' Gauntlets +1 have potential to be best in slot if the set bonus with legs is substantial.

what about this now? When we know(? was it tested?) legs+hands in WS Setup is 3% DA, would it be enough to be best in slot?

For Ukon I'd go legs > head > hands > body, hands are most likely best in slot when restraint down (allow to switch to goading belt and free ring slot for ambuscade/ammo slot for ravager's, maybe there are better swith, didn't look THAT much into it)

edit: 5stp 2da + kokou earring(or attila) / 6stp 1da is enough on ebody to be better than valk BP.

Some one has mathed this but I recal it being 2% if attack capped.

Honestly can't see it really being worth carrying the osode. I am close to 70/80 already inv.

Is Twilight better because of the accuracy? Sorry if it's a dumb question. I've never quite understood why some gear is chosen over another. I need to get off my butt and get Twilight. Put it off far too long.

^This. Osode with Critical Hit Damage +3% wins during Mighty Strikes when attack's capped. Double Attack +1~2% is just an additional bonus to that.

Never use Mekira. Use Twilight until you get Valkyrie's.

Twilight's STR+15, DEX+15, VIT+15, and Accuracy+25 is far better than Mekira's VIT+16.

Ok, next question. Until I get Twilight (yes I know, it's lame I don't have it and it's easy to get, and I will get to it and hopefully get it to drop), should I use my Osode with dbl att +1, crit hit dmg +2% over Mekira for Upheaval?

Mekira, using Osode during Mighty Strikes when attack's capped.

Since the OP stated you can get 13/13 red procs in Abyssea, I would like to ask: How do you get it?

I'm at 12/13 atm and I couldn't get Tachi: Koki...

WAR/NIN - 139 base Great Katana skill
+7 Justice Torque
+6 Fazheluo Helm +1
+5 Bushinomimi
+5 Moepapa Annulet
That's 162 skill.

+8 skill from 8/8 merits. You don't get 16 great katana skill, I learned it the hard way, instead you just get half.

That's 170 total possible Great Katana Skill for WAR/NIN using everything possible. Still need that extra +5 skill from something to get. So it's not possible at all for WAR to get 13/13 red procs in Abyssea?

I see, then I was wrong, I even put the merits and on my count it counted only as 8. But I suck at math, so.

Guess I answered my own question.

I wouldn't ditch Suppanomimi for a Bushinomimi just to get 13/13 procs though, don't think it's worth it, but good to know you actually can!

Upheaval

Phorcys Legs (especially with set bonus from hands) should almost always (if not always) beat af2+2.

Byakko's Haidate with crit dmg+4 should always win during MS, especially if you get lucky with random VIT augment on top of it.
