hopeing they stick close to the source material. dont want to see a Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls fiasco again ._... maybe based off one of the book trilogys.

as for the content of this post.... all i have to say is:

On the one hand, they can't do any worse than the prequel trilogy. On the other hand, they can still *** it up pretty bad. Curious to see if they'll reference existing storylines (which are numerous to say the least) or try to create a completely original story. I think working within the existing lore is the way to go, but there's some really shitty stories there too... I read a few of the EU novels a while back, but the Legacy of the Force arc ruined that for me. Yuuzhan Vong arc or such could be cool if done well.

Wont matter what they do with it, for them, they will make their money back and then some with pretty much just 1 more movie getting done. Disney wont give a ***about story integrity or fanbase either, count on them raping the franchise for all its worth.

I was just going to come here and say that. It would be really hard to do worse, but its achievable.

I really hope they do some Old Republic stuff instead of continuing after VI. The stuff before is a lot cooler imo.

The stories after episode 6 is overused in books and stuff, would be hard to make a direct follow-up I think.

I was watching one of the old ones the other day with one of my kids, & out of no where comes a cgi jabba moving around and ***, I thought I'd finally lost my mind, but nope, they edited in a "better" looking jabba that looks so out of place, it made me want to vomit. w .... t.... f....

They didn't do so bad when they bought Marvel. :3 Wouldn't worry too much!

Honestly it might not take that long... I mean star wars is a legendary series... though... it might be one of those that shouldn't be revived again...

Look at avengers... As of August they raked in $1.5 billion at the box office... who knows how much they made off DVD sales... Imagine if everyone who saw it actually paid lol... If you find an enticing enough movie and make it well... you could very well make that back with some hefty profit... I'd say they could possibly make another trlogy over the next 8-9 years... and if they do it right they could make quite a lot of money...

Avengers saved disney at the time lol... John Carter flopped hard for them... so it could go that way too...

I think the misgivings comes from the fact that while Disney has the capital and in-house resources to do amazing works, there is also the potential stifling corporate oversight (and compromise to creativity) that accompanies that.

For certain everyone recalls the very successful Disney properties like "Pirates of the Caribbean" or the Pixar studio works, but there are also a number of forgotten "Haunted Mansion" and "John Carter" type properties where application of big production values and cinematic formulae don't always equate with success.

That being said, Lucas had previously stated (after the lack of success of "Red Tails") that he had no interest in dealing with Hollywood productions and no plans (beyond the Cartoon Network animated series or proposed TV pilots) for subsequent Star Wars films. So really, in my view, beyond the "expanded universe" materials this is the best thing that could happen for Star Wars fans because at least there will be new feature movies...and knowing Disney, they will come as soon as fiscally feasible to create. :p

EDIT: Too slow, as always, as Flavin got to point out the "John Carter" property first. :p
