< Isle of Man (and yes, fairly sure I'm the only player on the whole island) :)

Born and bred in Manchester though. There is a core group of UK-based people on Fenrir, though, most of us are in NA/mixed shells I think. The only large UK based linkshells are Europa (as previously mentioned) and TheClick, but after various drama's TheClick mainly moved to Bahamut as far as I'm aware, about a year or two ago.

Like Meg said, Sylph isn't a bad server.

We have a strong EU Event LS (Amalgam, http://euroasylum.eu).

If you're in to HNM's and the likes, most (maybe all, I'm not sure) of the big EGLS's are EST/PST based, so they're not bad if you play more at night.

In general, the server is friendly, and fairly easy to play on. Getting parties is getting slightly more difficult (as is the case with all servers from what I hear), though it's not normally too hard to make friends to get stuff done ^^

If you decide to move to Sylph, hit me up and I'd be glad to welcome you to our LS =)

'Real' meriting always includes a COR for Corsairs roll.

I know I'll get flamed for this... but this is only personal experience being a 75 COR in merit parties.

I facepalm and laugh at anyone in my merit party that asks for a Corsair Roll. Its a waste of time and a waste of your parties potential.

In a "typical" (and I use this term only because its the trend with my merit parties) It's usually RDM-BRD-COR-DDx3

In this setup, Maintain the following:
Evoker Roll: for RDM
Chaos Roll: a MUST (even without DRK in party) to up Damage combined with songs from BRD
Depending on the DDs in the Party, apply the following Roll:
Fighter's Roll Double Attack proc is amazing for faster kills
Samurai's Roll Because watching the DDs (especially DRG @ birds)witha 4 to 5 hit build is amazing.

Now my reasoning behind NEVER using Corsair's roll in a Merit Party is simple: its Gimps the Party.
If you can have your BRD non-stop pullling, and your DDs taking out birds in seconds based on the fact that you've increased the damage output so much... Corsair's roll is not needed and you will chain MUCH higher.

EXAMPLE:

When a COR takes the time to use Corsairs roll...you have now taken away a beneficial effect from your party that helps them knock out as much damage as possible... just for a tiny percentage of extra EXP.

To explain a little better:
Say the DD's have Fighters and Chaos roll (Chaos was rolled first)
you now apply Corsair roll.

Corsairs overwrites Chaos. to re-apply chaos... you knock out Fighters.

Taking into consideration that the COR has the recast merited down to 50 seconds...

that's about a minute and a half to 2 minutes that your party is not at full potential...
possibly more if you take the time to apply Evokers to the RDM.

That's about 3-4 birds worth if everything is going as planned.

this not only slows down the Chain... but in the long run is not worth the small percentage of EXP.
As well as running the risk of breaking the chain with Slower Kills.

Granted, I'm from Siren... and the exp-bonus we get out at merit camps is nice due to our besieged record.
So perhaps COR roll MAY be needed on other servers. I don't have a good comparison to go by.

And Again... this is just MY opinion.
and I'll let that Screenshot speak for itself.

IF anyone has Screenshots to prove me wrong, I will gladly admit my ignorance.

P.S. SS above was RDM-COR-BRD-DRG-WAR-WAR
With Chaos and Fighters maintained

The thing is, if you can kill fast enough to hold the chain without Fighter's/Samurai's roll, then you're actually adding nothing to the PT by using either of them.

Corsair's roll however is more EXP off each kill, so you would be getting higher EXP assuming you can keep the chain going.

In my experience... I've had a hard time with parties keeping Chains like the one I posted above going without the benefits of the rolls.

As i said, its just been my experience.
perhaps I've had bad merit parties?
Could be the case.

If you're pt is already killing much faster than pops w/o having for example fighters roll up, I think that Corsair's Roll > Fighters.

Everyone knows there's a balance, especially at bird camps. If you kill way too fast and have to wait around for respawns there's a higher chance of losing chain than killing slightly slower.

My point is, if you're pt is good enough, theres a limit for when extra attack, haste, double attack or w/e loses its value. And then atleast I'd rather have a few extra exp per kill, than a meaningless buff that make us kill too fast and have to wait on respawn.

just my opinion though =P
