What sort of coffee, what style? That sounds like bad grinds on an instant cup of coffee.

I used to try the stuff my stepmom brewed sometimes. I don't know exactly what it was, but it was awful. She had a little one-cup Black and Decker coffee pot that she made it in. I only like coffee if it's sweet. If I go to Starbucks, I always want the Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappacino. It's sweet and it doesn't have a strong coffee flavor to it. When we go to restaurants that offer coffee, I almost never like it. No amount of sugar and creamer in the world will fix that stuff. xD I love the smell of coffee beans though!

Not the most well-rounded thing I've made but I was trying to make zucchini suck less. I sliced the zucchini with a potato peeler, then marinated all of the slices in some olive oil, S&P, vinegar and garlic. Then I rolled them up with cherry tomatoes inside and put 'em under the broiler. Garnish is the roasted flesh of a larger tomato (seasoned to not suck) with the diced skin from the slices of zucchini that I wouldn't have been able to roll with. The little stacks of zucchini are because I got tired of rolling. :p

Pork chop was just a simple brine and grill.

Baked Alaska Meatloaf

(It has nothing to do with Alaska as far as I can tell, but everything sounds better if you name it after something rugged and beautiful, right?)

It's just a meatloaf with mashed potatoes spread around the top and sides and sprinkled with cheese. It's an easier, less veggie-filled version of shepherd's pie. Lazy man's shepherd's pie!

We had steamed broccoli on the side. Soft and tender!

Alaska meatloaf needs reindeer in it! ;)

Here's last night's:

BBQ'd dryrub tritip and bellpeppers. Spinach was blanched and then reheated with a dab of butter to semi-stuff the bell peppers. Basic baked sweet potato.

Usually here when we make shepherd's pie, it involves a lot of peas and corn mixed into the beef. So then you get a full meal in one dish, with your protein (beef,) veggies (corn and peas), and delicious (potatoes.) I think the one and only reason the Alaska meatloaf didn't qualify was lack of veggies. But it probably wasn't different enough to need a whole new name. xD Heck, I could probably just mix peas and corn into the beef and it would taste the same as shepherd's pie and be quicker and easier than my usual shepherd's pie recipe.

The fries were so soft too yet crispy to bite into, wow I was in heaven. I wish there were like 6 people here to eat it all fresh though instead of having to eat leftovers for a week lol
ON MY WAY!!!!!!!!!!

Our blackberry bush is spitting out berries like it's going out of style. Can't let them go to waste now, can we! So I made blackberry pie and took it to a pal's house and drank too much of his home-brewed hard cider and played Cards Against Humanity. And I made a blackberry cobbler and eat it warmed up in a bowl with a scoop or two of French vanilla ice cream on top.

We decided that we ought to make half an attempt to be healthy tonight, so I'm attempting this recipe for Quinoa Mac and Cheese:

http://aroundthetableri.blogspot.com/2012/02/cheesy-quinoa-mac-cheese.html

With broccoli in it. I'm about to mix the stuff up and put it in the oven. So far, quinoa smells funny. Wish us luck. O.O

You really can't tell by the picture, but it's rice topped with chicken and pepper stir-fry, then drizzled with teriyaki sauce, with wine to drink. Wine makes me happy. Strawberry white zinfandel flavor. That's my favorite wine. <3

I had fun testing a few things out last night. New stuff:
- First time trying to butterfly and de-rib a chicken
- First time using a "charcoal snake"-- look how it winds around. Worked out great as it gave me a nice low & slow cook without any tampering.
- I tried out a bbq sauce + coca cola + bourbon basting sauce (basted quickly every 30mins for about 3 hours)

It was brined for about 5 hours before hand. The result was the best tasting chicken meat I've ever made but the skin was too leathery. Tips on fixing that would be appreciated!

Anyways, here's a couple pics:

Vegan Field Roast! Awful picture but no camera other than my bad cell phone camera.

All locally grown potatoes, carrots, green beans, some vegan alternative chicken tenders, with an olive oil and herbs de provence coating while it roasted.
