yashiru as a bankai was a poor lazy excuse to fill in the blanks. unless the real one died and the bankai then manifested as her (would like to believe this as it makes more sense)?

Rukia put up a decent show and had her bankai (which was so beautiful) shown for the first time.

I don't remember those bird things you speak of, nor the situation you described, but all sternritters (except Ishida) eventually died when Yhwach used that ability of his that recalls the powers he blessed them with.

The captains you're wondering about are Visored. They were Captains (except Risa, the bungaku shoujou-type girl, she was a vice-captain to the current captain commander) to begin with, before the incident that made them go into hiding in the human world.

Kira somehow survived and was whacking the Sniper Sternritter who turned into the creepy owl god thing with his gravity sword or something.

To me it felt like he only put Rukia and Renji together so he could have that final little scene

Chad becoming a boxer when he'd promised his beloved Abuelo to never use his fists for his own benefit, Ichigo living in the human world when we had an entire arc dedicated to how being a normal human made him unhappy and unfulfilled, Renji remaining a lieutenant when his whole goal as a character was to become Byakuya's equal, Ishida becoming a doctor when he'd said he never wanted to be one.


No, but literally Ichigo's entire story was headed for him to become a full-fledged Shinigami (or, my prefered theory, the replacement of the Soul King, seeing how he was the lynchpin of the world, yet he got killed and we never knew how that ***got resolved):

-We had an entire arc about how miserable he was as a human. He literally hated being just a human and having a regular life. The arc's climax came with Ichigo acknowledging how he loved being a shinigami and how proud he felt of that
-The last arc began with Kyoraku giving Ichigo's friends special tickets so they could visit him in Soul Society
-There was a big portion of Ichigo's development in this last arc that necessitated he got in touch with his true, original shinigami powers and his true zanpakuto
-The final battle ended with Ichigo stripped of all his powers except the Shinigami ones, and going back to have the zanpakuto he got before his first incursion into Soul Society
