wyrmal abj like body drops in einherjar so its pretty easy to have one fall into your lap and tatter it up.

The hardest thing was getting an alchemist to make a damn cursed mask-1, they're all so busy trying to HQ cuisses they completely forget there is a market for masks because of the -QD aug.

Yeah, I was looking for a -1 mask for a few months and after I grabbed it I kinda just left it in my safe for a few more months and I didn't bother augmenting it til last night lol

Not looking forward to having to do more synergy though f

There aren't very many Cors out there and even less that actually care about QD. I'm the #1 seller of Masks on my server but I can guarantee that if someone else tried to move into the market it wouldn't hold because there isn't enough demand. More people play Cor please!

How much synergy/alchemy skill is needed to augment the mask? for HQ augments, ofc

I had someone with capped skill do my augments even though it says the requirement is Novice rank for synergy. Higher synergy skill does yield better augments so you should get someone with capped skill.

The most important thing was being no more than 1 off the target number of the element when augmenting.
As long as we had 43/44/45 wind balance , we got HQ synergy pretty reliably.

My friend with capped synergy did mine as well. Fwiw he said it was more annoying to do the mask (44wind) than seiryus kote (45 wind) because it's easier to hit multiples of 5 when adding fewel - although I noticed we got HQ3 more often when doing the mask. But synergy is random as all hell

So does it need any other skill than synergy?

Not for the augment. Cursed mask-1 is an alchemy synth though

No it doesn't, mask+mirke or bust. If you want macc, put on macc on other slot.....you don't need a lot unless you're dispelling mandy anyways. Even when dispelling you can still land with mask+mirke.

I used to miss quite a few in full dmg set until I swap in macc stuff for dark shot. At that time I didn't have a dedicated set nor QD bullet for light/dark shot and just use QD dmg set for every shot.

Well, they used to do damage back when they were added and then got changed. That was 7(?) years ago I think.

I feel so old now.

Edit: yeah, December 2006 (http://www.playonline.com/pcd/update/ff11eu/20061219nCOqt1/detail.html).

I swapped from using Mirke when I was getting resists on AA Difficult. That bothered me.

Also IDK if others have already checked but I was noticing that WF was doing more damage than it should.

At first I thought maybe it was an ilvl thing, but tested and its 2.5/ilvl after 99 (expected). Then I thought perhaps they changed the dAGI or fTP on it, but it tested normal (2 per dAGI and fTP still 5.5). Then I thought perhaps ilvl equipment may add something (it showed same damage from ilvl 109 and 113 while keeping same AGI). Ultimately it seems like there is a base damage of about 250 outside of http://fTP. I guess like a blm spell that has a base damage? Has this been noticed or determined by anyone else?

If you guys are using gearswap you can still use the mirke/mask combo in the precast function then switch to MAB/MAcc in the midcast to maintain potency and the timer reduction.

How. Job abilities are instant, they have no midcast phase.

Instant is relative to perception especially when dealing with packets. Gearswap is that fast. So fast that if you don't mirror precast rules for JAs and WSs in midcast you will at times not get your desired effects.

all you got to do is have a set with mirke/mask in the precast function and a set with Lunan/Thaumus hat/Laks in the midcast function.

Not true, actually. Midcast is the only phase that matters for most JAs, with the singular known exceptions of the Waltz TP Cost -5 augment.

If equip your Quick Draw in precast and then swap to your PDT set for midcast, you won't get the effect of your quick draw gear. Same story for weaponskills.

so now you all know.
link has issues but it is #2066 on pg 104.

All that says is what I said, that their is no precast and midcast for JA and WS, not for use at least, with Curing Waltz being the one exception.

Read the 2 posts before it and after to see the conversation in totality. The comment about the Waltz pants is that they need to be in the midcast to take advantage of the TP cost reduction which is explained in further detail on Byrth's follow up post on that page.

you can in fact use precast to proc the timer augment and use midcast to swap in potency. Which should be obvious when someone who wrote the program says you can have your potency gear in Precast switch to PDT in midcast and lose said potency.

I thought it was the same and to ask him 5 time to make sure for clarity sake then wrote a cor file and it works with respect to question at hand.

Nice, thanks for the info Zero. Sweet little feature there for sure that I will certainly utilize.

Regardless, I had no trouble landing dark shots on the mandy in Yorcia with fairly unimpressive gear (first time I had played COR in a few months since I had deactivated). If I didn't know about this neat little GS trick, I would try switching around other gear first before getting rid of the -timer gear, but that's just me

So would that also apply to SMN stuff. Can you precast in BP- and swap to full dmg stuff?

you could always do that, even with ingame macros

ja are instant, but their damage isn't calculated inside the process reading packets

server sees packet transmission:
reads precast gear
reads action packet, checks cost and sets recast if action is legal
reads the midcast gear since it's in the same packet transmission
finishes packet transmission, processes ja(at which point you're in midcast gear)

This is an interesting thing anyway for two reason: first being you gain 20 mab in your QD damage set(Thaumas hat and Lanun frac+1); the other being you can put something other than mab on Mirke: either Fast Cast(I don't know about you but for me it's been nigh impossible to get a houppelande), or Snapshot to free an inventory slot and throw away Skopos. (unless you need some pet stuff cause you play those jobs of course)
