Hi guys :)

I'm leveling bard (37 atm) and i started to buy gears for next levels.

I wanted to get a wind earring and a string earring for now and a musical earring later, but i saw ppl said the best combo with earrings, was to have singing earring + musical earring...

I don't understand why. Ok for buff, it's same thing, combined skill don't change between if you got a singing or wind earring. So for debuff ? why have the skill of your current instrument is not better that a general skill ?

Like i said, i'm not a real bard (only level 37 atm) so i think it's to save 1 spot in your inventory (if you have a singing earring instead a wind and a string, you win 1 slot). Am I wrong ?

Singing is used in both Wind + String, where wind is just.. wind.

If you dead set on buying one then get singing, although its more of an endgame piece for breaking march tiers. Unless you plan on using BRD A LOT thats quite a bit of gil to spend on a very marginal upgrade. @ 75 Musical / Chr ear or even Musical / Loq is going to be fine.

I dunno...it's only around 50k on Asura, and it's a nice earring to pair with a Musical Earring (assuming no Singing Earring) in a Horde Lullaby build and a max-AoE range Ballad build using Harp. I can't say how effective String Earring is in these builds as my BRD gimps it up with the fulltime earring combo of Musical/Loq.

Lol. Only thing I'd use string for is the etude spells and I'm currently working on ungimping my string stats so I can use that better. =d

I can't get CHR earring cause i already have 120 in chr (i read there is a cap @ 110-120 and get more is useless)

EDIT : 120 CHR on gear i will have lev 75, not now ;)

For skill : all buff which need a skill, need a combined skill i guess so it's same to have singing earring or wind earring. I guess the difference is only on debuff

Wind onry. String nothx.

Wind has higher Magic Accuracy but has a lower range/AOE

where as,

String has lower Magic Accuracy but has a higher range/AOE.

The problem is not here lol i try to understand why ppl said musical earring + singing earring are better that musical earring + wind earring xD

That would require actual effort on BRD of changing my macro from Storm Fife to a String Instrument then back again >_>

Whoa what? Storm Fife only works in assaults. ._.

Kaeko showed in his LJ that singing skill > wind skill.

Also (For March) skill is only useful when you are actually breaking a skill tier.
If the 3 skill from the earring doesn't push you over a tier then it is useless and you would actually be better off using something like Loq or Novia.

For debuffs, brd has a ton of options for aranging gear to meet requirements. You could easily replace CHR elsewhere with skill and use CHR ear instead of the singing earring and maintain basically the same setup.

I've run Limbus with your for months now, and you've never noticed that I sing all my Ballads with my Storm Fife? How dare you! :P

Even though I sing ballads with Storm Fife, all I have to do is take out a few slashes to shift my Ballad macros towards a Harp/String build. It makes tagging BLMs a little bit easier, but no matter what, they will still start running away the instant I start casting Ballad2... -.-

Zero String skill completely gimps the potential of Horde Lullaby and the use of a Harp to Ballad a mage party during events. You have Sea access, so String is retardedly easy to skillup:

1) Go to Sea
2) Find a Goldfish
3) Spam Threnodies on said Goldfish until String is capped

Aww man. I never noticed... All the gear changing and what not, I don't see what you're singing and stuff. I'm usually PLD. You think I pay attention to the gear people are wearing when they blink? I'm curing or voking or something. XD Next time I'll examine you so I don't insult your BRD'hood. <3

I find 13 Instruments more than enough to carry in my MH 8X

Pfft, my apologies for misreading that. >.<

If nothing else, Nursemaid's Harp is worth buying (can serve double-duty for Horde Lullaby and Ballad). Depending on inventory space, I could understand the reasoning for skipping the others. Even though I almost never use them, I do carry around Etude and Paeon instruments.
