Only if you or someone in your alliance kills the mob, and you are still alive and within exp range and you didn't whiff. Also, it helps if it's during a full moon and on windsday during the springtime and your character makes that grunting noise and you are facing towards winds strong direction (South East). The benefits to the level of th that effects drops depends largely on your own superstition. As an example if 5 is your lucky number then the drops will be better when you proc a 5 or a number evenly divisible by 5, like 10, but th9 will be like -3. there is a chart in the corsair section with all the lucky/unlucky numbers.

It isn't hard to test this yourself you know. Use AE with your TH gear on, then attack one of the mobs you didn't target without your TH gear util you see an upgrade, and you will have your answer.

Where ?

it states its has to be an action towards the mob
and indirect hit from AE is could be the case of not being technically against the mob but only against the targeted mob, depending on how its programmed.

This linked thread was actually what started my question.
since we know just getting on the Hate list is not enough, but you have to use an action against the mob.

so is the AoE effect against the mob or not? in some terms of the game its not.

TH is only applied when an action directly targets a mob. When using an AoE, TH is only applied to the mob that was the initial target of the AoE.
