Ok, so was leveling SCH tonight, got it to 42, had a blast, etc. I was main healing, so I subbed WHM, 'cause I figured, that's what I should do.

Anyways, would SCH main heal be really hindered with BLM subbed? I didn't use Protectra...used Accession and Protect II. In hindsight, I don't really remember using anything that SCH doesn't already get on it's own. Granted, we had a RDM in the group that was enfeebling 100% of the time, and I had refresh, so that may be a consideration...

Anyways, subbing BLM would give more of a boost to MP pool (which would be nice), I'm Elvaan so my MND is already good enough in that my cures seem to do the same regardless of sub (noticed that at earlier levels), and I'd have more INT so I could contribute more to DPS when I'm not dumping heals on people (with NIN tank and Accession+Regen II wasn't doing that much curing TBH). When I was syncing to 30's, even with Dark Arts active it seemed like my cures were still doing about the same as with Light Arts.

So yeah, would it be a really bad idea to be Main Heal as SCH/BLM? Should I keep going /WHM when I know that's what I'm gonna be doing?

it wouldn't be a bad idea to main heal SCH/BLM....

...but most SCHs go SCH/RDM for AoE phalanx/Stoneskin/Blink/Enspells.

I know you can't get any of those yet, and SCH/WHM gives those also.

Its really your choice to be honest.

Well I think a big selling point for sch/rdm is you keep almost as much int and MAB of /blm. And you get to keep your whm buffs too and phalanx. Not to mention fastcast. And yeah healing magics affect on Cure I-IV once you get a decent amount is so full of fail its laughable.

Well I'm a 75SCH, and I went /RDM from 1-75 xD

But I guess it all depends what your doing, nuking/enfeebling-ish stuff I'd say /rdm or /blm healing /rdm or /whm...

And you will heal the same with dark arts and light arts it doesn't effect the potency of spells, it affects the cost of it and casting time thats all. for potency Rapture and Ebullience would be the strategems used.

If you're healing /rdm is best at higher levels. If you sub whm you get stoneskin sooner then /rdm though. :) Like everyone said, it really depends what you're doing. Even if I'm nuking, I sub rdm because fast cast doesn't hurt. :)

I'm SCH 60 atm and its so damned easy to level :P
Before 68 /RDM is kinda pointless. With /WHM you get stoneskin at 56. Its your best friend paired with Regen II.

I've been a strong believer. /BLM pre ToAU. /WHM 55-67. Then /RDM 68-75

You know, I thought about that (subbing nin), and dual wielding Yew Wands +1 for INT...but prolly just stick to mage subs since I don't take hate very much. Don't wanna piss off the NIN now ^^

Well I didnt do it for the int. I did it cause as a sch especially at that lvl I couldnt 1 hit them. And while they have relatively low hp for there lvl they still pack a punch. The extra int was nice though
