Depend how strong you/your party are.

Alluvion yorcia seemed pretty random. I dont remember if it was any less random on rala. But surely garanteed with vagary. Plus, probably vagary is more rewarding than skirmish.

You sure you can learn it there?

You don't actually Fight him there your valiants do

Yes, despite being the solo vagary boss the way to go, im pretty sure you can learn cruel joke if palloritus uses it in alluvion skirmish and you win the floor

Yes you can learn the blu spells there. I learned cruel joke there myself.

What am I losing if I do +1 JSE neck vs. +2? I mean, I know the stats I am losing, but how does that translate in-game?

If you're buying/using heroism, you're wasting 40m on a throw away item that you could just put into +2 instead.

As far as whats the difference, really, unnoticeable dps loss. Less than you lose by hitting a macro one second to slow. or a laggy engage.

The accuracy and Dex play a useful part in mitigating some of the accuracy loss from thibron offhand, since that has no accuracy. The critical hit rate and stp is nothing huge, minor bonuses. I like the additional magic accuracy and blue skill for certain spells (occultation, dream flower etc). Means I can use more hybrid stats in some of my sets.

I went the cheap route initially where I capped +1 neck when I really wasn't playing BLU much as other projects. But once I was ready to start taking BLU seriously, I grabbed the +2. It's probably not significant of a difference for an average player, but if you intend on longer term improvements from blue, invest in the hq2.

Pretty close but normally below older sets i see.

I guess the bigest advantage of the cloak is that if you want to gear a BLU mule, you dont need to spend on HQ body neither bother farming the abjuration/converting points.

Depending on server, can even save some 20M on it

cohort +1 r15:
76 int, 110-120 macc, 100 matt

amalric +1 head + body:
62 int, 109 macc, 83-93 matt(depending on if you wear 2 or 3+ amalric +1 pieces), magic crit hit damge +9%

amalric +1 body + jhakri +2 head:
74 int, 97 macc, 94 matt

now a lot of blu spells have different stat mods. cohort falls a bit behind in that department vs the amalric/jhakri combo but wins vs the double amalric combo.

iirc magic crit hit damge +9% is rather neglectable. if i didn't overlook anything i'd say for spectarl floe, entomb and subduction its a improvement. for tenebral crush we have the pixie hairpin, so i suppose for that one chohort is only a option if you are macc starved but i guess wait for someone with a spreadsheet.

Cohort is useless for a geared blu, maybe good for run lunge, trueflight rng.

why would you deem it useless? looks like a solid option between amalric +1 and jahkri +2. its probably less of a hustle to get and costs pretty much the same as amalric +1 body on asura and is way cheaper on other servers.

Honestly, the use of it is macc swap without losing much damage for the additional effect of your nukes.

Huh? Cohort is stronger than Jhakri + Amalric for:

Scouring Spate
Anvil Lightning
Entomb
Silent Storm
Searing Tempest
Blinding Fulgor

If you have a great Herculean Helm augment, it should beat Cohort for Anvil Lightning, not sure about the rest. It is also best in slot for MACC, which means it is a pretty useful cloak. You wouldn't use it for Spectral Floe or Tenebral Crush but it is stronger for the other big nukes, even if only slightly. So useless is definitely not the right take.

Cohort vs other option was discussed already. There is much more stats other than INT that are used for blue magic nukes.

Cohort Cloak +1 testing. R15. Same testing as before, all less than one distance away. Testing Cohort vs Jhakri vs Herculean DM augment. This is my Herculean Helm augment so there is no confusion.

Subduction:

Herculean: 9699
Jhakri +2: 9655
Cohort +1: 9665

Tenebral Crush(I'll add in Pixie +1 for this):

Herculean: 17,777
Jhakri +2: 17,616
Pixie +1: 19,637
Cohort +1: 18,027

Retinal Glare:

Herculean: 12,751
Jhakri +2: 12,763
Cohort +1: 12,756

Entomb:

Herculean: 15,400
Jhakri +2: 14,940
Cohort +1: 15,556

Spectral Floe:

Herculean: 18,498
Jhakri +2: 18,590
Cohort +1: 18,536

Anvil Lightning:

Herculean: 14,701
Jhakri +2: 14,525
Cohort +1: 14,656

Searing Tempest:

Herculean: 14,488
Jhakri +2: 14,553
Cohort +1: 14,656

Stamos's helm is 45mab,3vit in case someone cant see the picture in spoiler, so that's a really good DM augment. Like you see from numbers, even against such augment, Cohort is marginally winning for most spells and even more marginally losing for few.
All that with massive lead in magic accuracy. Imo it's easily the best option for most nukes, but you still need Amalric body to pair with Pixie Hairpin +1 for Tenebral Crush, so for geared BLU it's mostly a really big upgrade for macc nuke set and only small for pure nuke set.

tbh you don't even need amalric +1 body for tenebral crush, jhakri robe +2 does just fine. for highlvl AoEing you mostly stick to floe, entomb and maybe anvil cause it's quite risky to throw in a AoE without crowd control and fodder like ascha dragons dies after first tenebral crush even with full jhakri +2.

While we're on the subject of other stats playing a big role, don't forget about Luhlaza Shalwar if some of you aren't using them. They are better than Amalric Slops for half of the big nukes.

Searing Tempest, Entomb, Silent Storm, and Blinding Fulgor are all stronger with the Shalwar in addition to it having more MACC. Though I should note that is on Blanched Mandagora (Lv. 100) and I never bothered to check on Apex level mobs or Wild Rabbits to compare.

I didnt notice how many jobs can wear this cloak.

Thats a great jack of all trades. Particularly good for many jobs that dont have that much option for mab

can BLU solo genmei? most jobs i've seen do it successfully have some way to damage it thru invincible (rdm - en spells, mnk formless strikes, nin - elemental wheel) and smn has AC.

genmei seems to be weak vs thunder but anvil lightning has high cooldown and mp cost so we'd be stuck spamming subdcution which i'm afraid only tickles him.

would sulpor from /run have a chance to trigger white !! and remove the shield or is spike damage necessary?

is he weak to blunt damage?

Imo if you prepare for the fight and you are actually well geared for 2020 standards, it should be a cake with all the escha temp items and buffs available.
