I'm probably not putting any of this in my cleaving set, except perhaps the hands for a large macc gain over NQ Amalric. However, a few are going into the additional effect spells and pretty much all of it into elemental WS sets.
This alone makes it worth as much or more than the other sets. I think blu actually made out very well, as usual.
High lv blus wont understand this, but everyone else will understand what I am saying (the focus of these ambuscade sets).
Most of the avg blus arent in full almaric, this is awesome for them. Most blu's I see cant land a sudden lunge or blank gaze on belphagor (now they can). Most have shitty elemental ws sets, now they dont.
Your not going to fulltime this gear, there is better tp gear and cdc gear. This is a MAGE set and what it does for maging on blu is great, not to mention it also doubles as a very good set for many other things on blu.
If your feeling hurt anyone about this set. Please go look at the others. Sulevi'a is only good as -dt and even then we had good stuff before (thus still better now). The USuckANE set is just that, ***lol. The body is good for idle, the feet for nin DW, legs are the only write home peice (even then on par with what we could get before). The marduke was kinda neat, kinda useless, kinda idk? I like it for idle on meva mobs. Last months set did have some good pieces, but almost all those jobs needed it.
The purpose of this set is to be a good stepping stone to superior pieces. Don't feel bad for using it while you're working towards better gear. Just understand the issues that the set poses so you can properly rectify them when you gain access to stronger items.
Exactly.
In my case, the NQ set (for nuking/cleaving I am talking) is better across the board than what I have right now which is AF+1/Wayfarers/Crappily augmented Helios. Never mind the HQ which totally blows it out of the water. At least I have some options now to solo some job points while I build myself up. :D
I'm at work so it's hard to compare sets. is the new ambuscade set gonna compete with almaric for nukes? been holding off on almaric trying to save some gil
Pretty Descent armor for all the jobs that can wear it.
as for BLU I can see for a nuke set if you dont got Almeric or Refresh+3 body nice for idle :D

Actually very good eva set for nin, if anything the feet are the one piece that has a big negative for nin because of the Dw on them.
But is it worth to grind day 1 because it is BiS? Nupe ;/
Actually its worth to grind day 1 because after day 11 everyone will have important things to do till day 30, leaving around 10 days free of campaigns before next update. August will be short and busy. People with limited play time and not many resources will suffer to get the set while still enjoying the campaign.
Stumped on this gs question. Have 2 rosmertas, tp and ws. When i engage i can see i have the correct back in, but only just noticed that when i ws it keeps the same cape, my tp on, instead of switching. I put the tp in my satchel and watched showswaps and checked to see if it would maybe somehow recognize my ws back and put it in my tp slot. It did not. Put my tp back in inventory and it loaded correctly when tping again, so it definitely recognized how its written in gs.
But still cant get my ws to work with it. Its obviously written correctly because i just copied and pasted it and changed augments only.
The 2 capes are different by str and dex.
The way i noticed my ws cape isnt working is i put the tp back in satchel, then watched showswaps, and set my idle cape on, and then ws, never changed in precast ws, but changed capes aftercast to idle. Im clueless any help appreciated.
And when i say i think it's written correctly is because I left the weapon skill cape written the same and change my augment to strength and set my tp cape to my idle manually and watch swaps and it inserted the cape. So I'm just confused why it's recognizing one and not the other
I put my regular cape the str+tp back in my satchel so I definitely see that it what swap and it did.
Best way to handle augmented stuff in Gearswap is to equip the item you want and type //gs export. Your curent set will be exported to gearswap/data/export/<current date>.lua. Copy the line with your augmented item and paste it in your set.
If this doesn't work you could post your GS, so we can check whats wrong.

The only one item I have to disagree with, and it seems to be the case with every piece it has cropped up on, is the hands because of their WSdmg.
Pretty sure they're best in slot for Sanguine Blade. (And other magical WSs)
But that's it. Everything else has better alternatives. (Though the feet are "meh" good enough if you REALLY need that MBB. And the body IS a 3/tic refresh option with decent nuking power... Why couldn't it have had damage=>MP....)
Everyone hating on the fact that this set has a large drawback... That's just the design of Ambuscade sets. (Except for the life of me I can't find meghanada's drawback... It has high DEF, slightly high evasion and Meva... Attack all goes up in +1... And the haste is the middle 16% that looks like "normal Ambuscade haste"... Maybe it's just no MP? But literally only RUN cares there... Idk)
Why does no one mentions that the set is so strong for an add effect set, both physically and magically? :D
Also, I feel like the lack of haste is being a bit over-exaggerated. How many times do people find themselves waiting on recast to miss 13% more haste that bad?
The whole set (or hands replaced by amalric for MBing) is slightly stronger and notably more accurate than a set of a decent herc head + amalric body/hands/legs/feet (or jhakri feet now for MBing) which is the norm until amalric+1.
This is probably the most useful (in terms of applicable scenarios and, sad to say this but, the current meta) set so far considering the intended purpose of the ambuscade sets.
From what I can see, this set pretty much outdoes Amalric NQ set in just about every slot simply for matching/exceeding INT and MAB while also bringing equal MAcc which some pieces of Amalric lack.
Herc armors can compete but require very strong MAB and INT augments which are seemingly hard to hit (for me)
HQ Amalric trumps this set for having superior base stats as well as sexual set bonuses but it will likely cost 1B gil to get the full set unless you make it yourself.
A BLM won't like this set, Merlinic all day. Same for RDM and SCH. It's a really solid BLU nuke set since we can't really Magic Burst without a JA
As has been mentioned repeatedly, the low haste and low defensive stats do have a negative impact, but how severe that impact is will vary based on what you're doing and your playstyle.
