before i head out and make myself a mercy stroke set i juts quickly skimmed through the ws . and im i right that i should generally still use evisceration for dmg and just mercy stroke for AM ?

if not i would love some math behind it.

oh and how many hits are mercy stroke ? (not counting offhand).

There should not be a question as to whether or not to make a Mercy Stroke set. The weaponskill is great stacked. As far as unstacked, Evisceration inside of Abyssea. Evisceration is still decent unstacked outside of Abyssea, but been using Extenterator mostly outside.

The Aftermath of Mercy Stroke is not like the aftermath of Emp WS's, and is not really something that tilts the scales much. I've never seen someone favoring Mercy Stroke for the AM really.

Thank you for the info.

I will be building a small Mercy stroke set I'm just trying to figure out how much i will be putting into it inventory wise.

but looking besides a stacked MS. even outside i would still be using evis above MS right ?

i will probably not be able to merit dagger ws since i have other priorities in that way

also ima be using twatwasher90 for offhand (if that changes anything)

Pretty simple when it comes to THF Weaponskills.

Unstacked - Generally Evisc or Exent depending on Location.
Stacked - Mercy or Rudra.

Not a lot of variation from the above. Except maybe a TA/Exenterator in some situations.

How close is MS to exen unstacked, assuming 99 Mandau? They must be decently close due to WS bonus, and str mod on MS.

At 95 it isn't even close unstacked. Find it hard to believe that 99 would make a difference.

wsd+20% (total of wsd+40% iirc) at 99, increased base damage, +5 attack

not sure if that'd make it comparable to exent/evisc but it sure will make a difference from 95 mandau mercystroke dmg.

For me:

Inside Abyssea, SA or TA stacked WS will always be MS. Unstacked, Evis.

Outside, SA or TA stacked always MS. Exenterator unstacked.

As others have said above, unstacked MS is just not good enough to compare to the great multi-hit WS's we have in our arsenal.

I have no doubt that MS will be better with 99 dagger, I'm not arguing that. But really the additional damage and attack wont add anything that it probably wouldn't add to Exent/Evis. I just wanted to point out that with how far behind MS is at 95, it would take a lot more than what 99 offers to have it catch up. MS isn't very good unstacked, and I've found that the aftermath isn't worth constantly using it if the situation isn't ideal

It's +15% over the 95 only (25->40) and the other boosts benefit Exenterator too. Unstacked Mercy is so far behind with the 95, I don't think it has a chance of being competitive with Exenterator with a Mandau99.

Took Exenterator out when i got my mandau so I can't speak for its damage to well. Playing Dynamis Valk just last night against the tougher mobs was doing 1.5k-2.7k unstacked Mercy Stroke averaging around 1.8-1.9k. Stacked did 3k-4.7k averaging around 3.7k. Here is my 99 mandau set:

That seems rly weak lol. My exent on decent challenges in dyna with a twash 85 does 3k+ on average stacked. I would rly use 5/5 exent unstacked though. And for some reason my brain didnt seen the last part 3k-4.7k lol.

Just one question why make a Mandau if you didn't really plan on using MS?

Spreadsheeting it with pretty optimal gear sets shows Exenterator at only ~100 damage over unstacked Mercy (99 Mandau), so it's closer than I expected (DC Dynamis mobs using Red Curry).

If you mean while not stacked, because it's the best dagger in the game.

Doesn't seem like you've put much thought into it.

Thief's Knife is about 30 DPS less than a Fire Thokcha. If it takes you 15 minutes to get the TEs and you're killing mobs every 30 seconds, and then adjusting for 80% efficiency, that's 84 minutes of killing time remaining for a total of 151,200 damage lost, which is roughly 15 mobs at 10k HP a piece, or around 35 currency assuming an average of 2.5 per kill. There's no way the heavily diminished value of going from TH6 to TH7 is going to beat 35 currency.
