So I did my Chocobo raising many many years ago, I don't remember anything other than it's blue (the colour I wanted!), it runs 10% slower than normal chocobos mount (they run at -20%, mine is at -30%), once summoned lasts a bit more than regular chocobos (like 35mins instead of 30) and its endurance is basic because I can only do 100 digs per day.

But if I watch my racing chocobo I see it's a green one, it says its strength is first class, its endurance first-class, its discernment poor and its receptivity poor.
Likes clear days, dislikes none. Abilities none.

Ehr... wtf? Shouldn't it be my blue chocobo instead of this green one? Would this Green one be better to skillup digging?

You can have two different chocobos registered at the same time. One strictly for racing and farming chocobucks with whatever team you are aligned with and the other registered to your whistle which in turn is the chocobo called when out in the field using the mount option.

You can use Ivaar’s chococard addon to scan your VCS tokens and see your bird’s stats to better decide which of the two you have raised would be better for digging. Likely not either as the most valuable stats for digging birds are END and RCP.

You also may need to re-register you choco with the choco npc to have the mounts stats updated. Just trade the vcs registration card. This will undye your chocobo tho, assumimg its actually the same bird. I ocassionally find dyes on the ah. I'm assuming its from gobbie box

Ok so appearently the Choco Whistle is bound to the very fist Chocobo I raised, I kept it there because I liked the colour, trashed the card.
The second Choco was raised in Windurst, trashed the card.
The third Choco (the green one currently racing) was still being "raised" lol, so I managed to get a card from the guy in Sandy.

Here are the stats:
Jockey: Galka DNA Green Green Yellow
STR 243 - 18~19/32RP Legs and talons
END 234 - 10~11/32RP
DSC 18 - 18~19/32RP
RCP 15 - 15/32RP
Abilities: none
Personality: Rather ill-tempered
Weather: prefers clear days, dislikes none.
Riding speed 97,5%
Riding time: 45 minutes

Is this any good for anything?
Well... should be better than my blue chocobo with zero endurance and 10% slower than a regular chocobo, no?
With all that Endurance I should get a lot of additional choco digs per day.

Do chocobo colors matter? If so, does dyeing your chocobo have the same effect as getting a color from genetics?

Colors matters as in: I liked the blue color lol
I know you can dye it but only while still raising, I thought?
Plus doesn't the dye cost like 80 chocobucks?
That's like ~25 mins of free races xD

You can always dye it.I dyed m my chocos from like 14 years ago. Doesnt change genes. You can buy tradeable dyes for 75 chocobucks or dye it directly from the chocobuck npc for 50. Unless you plan on neglecting tf out of your choco, its super easy to get 50-75 bucks

But do colors matter for anything other than aesthetics? Digging/Racing/Chocographs???

For that matter, if I can post-hoc affect the color (via Dye) and stats (via chocotrains) of my chocobo, what is breeding for?

Colors are just pretty. Afaik breeding really doesn't have too much purpose for the reasons you listed. It was convinent to start with canter or other long walknlearned abilities but still not super necessary

Easy? Yes. Tedious? Damn yes.
Took me over 50 mins spamming enter in those menus to farm 150 chocobucks, earlier.

But I digress! Anyway I swapped my choco to my "green" one and I managed to dig 100 more times.
Not sure what happened but I can think of two things:

1) Swapping chocobos, my daily 100 digs limit reset and restarted from zero?
2) This chocobo has very high endurance. Endurance gives additional digs past the daily 100 limit. Is it possibly my endurance is so high it granted me another 100 digs?

One of the two, I would say.

Dye color doesn't affect your appearance during chocobo races, so it's still not perfect for aesthetics!

...this is the only reason I know to care about actual breeding.

Did I hallucinate it, or did they claim they were going to eventually add HTBFs for ACP, Moogle Kupo d'etat, and A Shantotto Ascension?

If they do, how do you reckon each will go?

When ACP was new, there were two methods for beating it that I recall being common. High end gear melee zerg, or mid range gear Rangers blow the *** out of it outside of its AOE charm range.

Moogles were a joke in a party, just remember Lullaby being requisite to sleep them for some reason.

Shantottos were gather the key items so you're super buffed and zerg.

I'd assume it'll be about the same but with inflated stats? What say you? Did they say this even?

Has anyone or "a friend" ever scammed a GM out of a craftsmanship crystal by:
1.Getting a shield to 100% craftsmamship
2.Dropping the crystal and then zoning
3.Getting the crystal again with 100% craftsmanship (from like 80%)
4.Upgrading the shield via craft
5."Ooooooh noooo I dropped my crystal. Id like to use my one time oopsie to get it back plz"

Re-using the same item 4x for the escutechon has to have been exploited somehow

I could definitely believe that could happen, but like, why? Craftsmanship is incredibly simple/cheap compared to the rest of the shield.

I thought craftmanship was slightly annoying, even botting it, just having to zero out my inventory as best I could to make room for all the mats needed...and then I got to the spheres phase.

Craftmanship is a 0 on the annoying scale.

I've been saying it for years. The first 3.9 stages of the shield are a cakewalk. Very little work, very little gil, very little grind.

Relatively speaking.

99% of the work/gil/investment into a shield is in the spheres & synthesis focuser. The other stuff is child's play.

There's been a decent amount of talking about Besieged over on the JP OF as of late. Discussion about difficulty, point values, the final update etc. In particular, some folks have griped about the difficulty of earning points on non-melee jobs, especially if they are in ambuscade gear. As result of this, I learned something I hadn't heard before.

I knew that the archaic mirrors in the beastmen strongholds were related to how fast they can prepare for a besieged, but I honestly had no idea that the large reduction in magic damage besieged mobs take was directly connected to the archaic mirrors. Apparently if you actually destroy them all, they take full magic damage.

Never heard that one, but if you go destroying mirrors you shoot yourself in the *** cause now you won't get points cause they'll attack significantly less often.

They should reverse it so destroying mirrors makes them attack more often.

That way all the incentives align!

Less work is less work. I never really needed a gm to restore a dropped item in like 10ish years of play before the recycle bin. I definitely don't need it now.

When you release a pixie, they populate current vanadiel.

No ones done it for 18 years.
Quote:
Building Pixie Amity allows them to spawn in the Present. A May 2008 interview with Square Enix has shed some more light on this:

"It would be an awkward situation if monsters in the present world were to become extinct as the result of events in the past. However, this may not necessarily be negative. If the players do ‘something’ in the past world, there could be positive consequences in the present one. For example, if the players were to save a Pixie in the past, Pixies would exist in the present. For the time being though, there aren’t many cases of this."
