Random Question thread (FFXI related)

Same reason drakesbane is often put to the side; its great when you can overcome the atk penalty, but its hard enough to find the sweet spot when you're at neutral. Then there's the fact single hitters are just so consistent ontop of having something like 60~65% WSD.
Probably decent enough under MS though, iirc before prime WS' came out ambu scythe spiral hell was the top warcry/MS weapon for slashing dmg, that's probably shifted to fimbl/disaster now Fimb is only 1 hit at about 7.5 fTP with 2250 TP though, and can miss 5% of the time. Disaster is about ~7 and same issue with missing the first hit. The modifiers shouldn't change the overall damage that much?

What about Ruinator? +10% attack, 85% STR mod, 4 hits, apparently fTP replicating but the fTP remains unknown?

If I glance at the specs then it's unclear why Shijin Spiral is ***and Raging Fists is amazing too though.

This could possibly align with my result, I also paused to do 1 slow kill in the middle of my "kill streak"
It could be something more like "kill 3 enemies in 2 minutes" or etc?
So last night I killed one (Imm. > Imm. > MB > MB - start at 20' and hit macro takes ~22s) I think waited ~60s before engaging the 2nd one. Killed it in ~22s, pulled 3rd immediately, but because I was watching timers didn't realize my MP was low so took a couple extra low tier nukes to finish it off not sure on time probably ~30s. Killed 4th in ~22s again immediately after (had sublimation charged, just should have hit it sooner) and got chest.
So time from 1st pull to 4th kill was about ~3min.
Time from 2nd pull to 4th kill was 1:52 I think (< 2m)
I got chest after 3 kills < 25s (individually), I also got chest after 3 kills < 2m (consecutively). So not conclusive either way I'll try again soon but figured I'd report this if anyone wants to add their own data. Not being sure of the individual time of that 3rd kill murks up my data a bit, hopefully I can repeat again except i think I can kill (wait) kill, kill and not get the chest and all 3 are < 25, that would prove the consecutive time span theory.
I think I got a chest once with a longer kill in the mix and I was surprised but because I was not paying close attention to the time so I could be wrong.
Did the same experiment last night killed 1, waiting a min. killed 2 more and got chest (I think about 2:30 from 1st pull to 3rd kill)
This seems to support < 30s theory and not overall. So maybe its 25s or there's a 2nd condition (or bug) that affects it (based on what's happened to me I'd suspect its related to changing mob types, aggro or leaving the B area via porter the times I've struggled with it. (maybe there's a limit like the 5min. after entering C area for Bhoot too, although I've gotten the chest after 6+ kills once or twice I think when I had minor issues with speed)
By soralin 2025-08-14 10:02:42
Currently my theory is it might just bug out if you get the kill on the ramp, and the chest just spawns inside the ramp or something dumb.
I think you have to actually open the chest for it to count for porxie kill, cuz I'll wipe out the enture room and then kill porxie and I don't get the porxie chest.

So couple things and i aint great at math so could be off too;
-its 7.5 ftp before accounting for wsd which roughly pushes it to 12 ftp with 60% wsd on a 95% hit
-The more hits in a WS the more likely it is to have a miss in it, at 5 hits you have a 77% chance to land all hits at 95% acc at 8 hits its 66%. So if we say 1.5 per hit on reso or 12 at 8 hits, then its more likely to be around 9 just due to misses, while your single hitter is just relying on 1 95% hit chance for 99% of its dmg.
Multi-hits used to and still sometimes give bigger spikes due to additional hits, but they also spike low for missing more, bringing their avg down to below a general frontloaded ftp WS, especially now with all the dumping of WSD
What about Ruinator? +10% attack, 85% STR mod, 4 hits, apparently fTP replicating but the fTP remains unknown?

what do you mean the ftp is unknown, its 1.08 aint it? If i were to use ruinator or any multi-hit on war id just stick to deci, 99% acc on MH with about triple the ftp
It's unclear as to why a 1.5 ftp ws is losing to a 2.1 ~ 3.75 ws?(because you're using at 2k at the min.) the WSC is lower but the ftp matters more typically. Prefer howling over both even if miss rates at 99% are much lower just cause i like that atk boost(95% hit chance at 5 hits for 99% hit rate)

Either my bst's gear needs fine tuning for this (I kinda stripped down the GS to leave unnecessary gear in safe/2) or UBnai needs it to be MBed or Rayked as well. I landed it fine on Ubnai with ML<10 and good but not BiS gear on BST.
Only did that like, what, a couple of times though.
Soooo... there's the chance I've just been extremely lucky and it's normally a pain to land without 3x Unda Rayke and/or MB and/or Frazzle3. I can try again today, I did double check my bst's gear and threw in a bit more pet:macc that I may have left out when I was stripping down the GS.

Even at 99% acc i dont think it changes the standing of 1 hitters getting a good lead due to globs of WSD, it would close the gap a lil but think they still fall behind. Then you just go back to in reso's case having to compensate for a -15% atk penalty

So the TP bonus on Aymur confuses me a little.
The BG Wiki states that it gives 500TP to the pets, but then has a hidden 500TP bonus on top.
But there's no listed value on the weapon itself, and then the pet TP bonus values listed on the ready page just list it as a TP Bonus+1000, no caveats.
So what's the caveat if there is one, and how was it distinguished to be two 500 bonus effects?
By Nariont 2025-08-14 23:12:07
Iirc It gives pets a passive +500 tp bonus(think aeonic) then also gives it another +500 tp bonus on ready use. Easier to just say it gives pets +1k TP om ready moves. Not sure how it was found to be layered like that

shows aymur enhances ready effect as 500 precast and 500 midcast, although all the testing information seems to be lost allakhazam links. would need to light the falkirk and xilkk signals to find out more. I don't remember if it was duration on enhancing moves or something else they used to test with

How often does a plant need to be examined in gardening to help it grow properly? It is a once-a-day thing or more based on when you initially planted it?

I do once a day, but sometimes my moogle negs me by saying the plant is sad. Can't forget that FFXI came out in 2002!

How often does a plant need to be examined in gardening to help it grow properly? It is a once-a-day thing or more based on when you initially planted it? I'm not sure it's necessary at all unless you're not feeding a crystal, in which case you do have to at least look at it during that phase.
By Kasaioni 2025-08-16 07:44:08
Not feeding any crystals. Been trying to look at it once a day but the moogle is saying it doesn't look so good, but might improve now that I've looked at it.

Not feeding any crystals. Been trying to look at it once a day but the moogle is saying it doesn't look so good, but might improve now that I've looked at it. If you're trying to grow something specific you'll want to do the maximum 10 pots (or as many as possible) since there's not a 100% chance of getting what you want. If you're just trying to grow *something then feeding a crystal when it asks for one will be faster than not feeding one. As I mentioned earlier, if you choose not to feed a crystal, I suspect the only time you need to inspect is once during the crystal feeding phase. But checking more often won't hurt.
If I'm wrong then I'm sure someone will correct me.

Pretty sure you need to check every earth day, whether you feed crystal or not.
If you don't feed crystal it will always say "plant looks sad but I'm sure it'll perk up now you've looked at it (kuppo)".
After a few days it will start blooming. The crop differs whether you feed or don't feed, but always blooms.

Hey, so I thought Aita's fetter condition was SCs, but today he just shat them out like every TP move.
What's his actual condition for Fetters?
We were using Resolution, Savagex2, Black Halo, and Judgment.

Aita drops a fetter (or two) every time he uses a TP move, after his first one.

We were using Resolution, Savagex2, Black Halo, and Judgment. Pretty sure it's HP% based, spawning more at at a time as his HP drops. I noticed after his first forced TP move, if I brought him down to 90% or so, we'd get 1 fetter to spawn. If I hold off on doing any WSs until after his first forced TP move, he won't spawn any fetters at the start. With double MNK he won't use another TP move until about 10%, if ever, and after that one he always spawns 3 fetters.

It's not SC, it will spawn fetters regardless and increasingly for sure.

Are there any good distribution tables or whatever that high level shows what ??? items are available, and how much they are available, based on floors of nyzul isle?
For the case of trying to min max what floors you wanna run in NNI depending on what you wanna farm
By Nariont 2025-08-16 21:22:07
There's a NM list on the nyzul isle page that shows what their ??? and what floor range theyre in. If you're after weapons they can be on weird things since there's limited ??? weapons, like h2h can be from ??? dagger. If you mean potential chance of things like a pulse i doubt theres a table for that just because of how much is in those drop pools

Heard you did some Slow vs. Haste tests recently.
Saw it was for recast, was it verified with Attack Speed as well?

Is there a command to trade "upto" instead of exact for tradenpc.
Say I have varying amounts of copper vouchers, I just want to input trade upto 99 on all of them instead of lowballing it to like 80

No. You could write a small lua to use windower command to count number of vouchers in inventory then feed that exact amount to tradenpc.
