Random Question Thread (FFXI Related)

Not sure if rate varies with pond level but I had similar woes with both my chars around ranks 4-6 and gave up til rank 7. Only took a few tries at most for each at that point iirc.

Higher levels of pond just give more items, meaning more chances to get it.

It's random, higher level less time it takes. Usually 1-5 days at rank 4 IIRC.

Probably a silly question: Trying to do the GEO quest for the WS. I don't remember when, but I got the Trial Wand a long time ago. The quest doesn't show up in my quest log ("Geomancerrific") but then again Mythic WS quests also don't show up. Seems the only way to get the Trial Wand is when you get the quest though, so I should have it.

Done way more than 300 WS points (probably over 600 at this point) and still no WS. The NPC doesn't say anything, cleared out all my Adoulin active quests, finished Adoulin story line a long time ago, tried trading the weapon, talking with the weapon equipped, nothing. Already have full sets of AF, AF2, AF3. Talked to Sylvie, she's got nothing for me either, all her quests are done.

Any ideas? I'm ready to toss the wand and see if she gives me another.

How can a relic WS (Gate of Tartarus > Gate of Tartarus) make Darkness level 4? Is this a typo?

I got the initial item about 11 hours ago (unknown when it was actually sent by the Mog House Management Union "=MHMU=") followed by a duplicate about 90 minutes ago (again unknown when it was sent)

All relics do this. They have darkness (or light) property. Using darkness (or light) after a darkness (or light) make t4 darkness.

This is how skillchains work. It's not a typo.

Darkness (t3) is gravitation > distortion or distortion > gravitation.

Darkness (t4) is Darkness > Darkness.

They're named the same thing and function almost identically, except Darkness (t3) can be extended to Darkness (t4).

This is to prevent infinite Darkness chains. For baransu.

So three more days, I'm at 15 Super Baitball used, I removed Kuyin Hathdenna, still no trace of Moat Carp Creel.
Am I doing something wrong? I even used a //find creel to see if I had it already somewhere, but it shouldn't matter since it's just Ex and not Rare.
