Can pretty safely say I'd walk first just because it'd be a massive waste of time.

In the lower levels, yes, but not at higher levels. For example, between levels 1 and 2, you only gain 3 skill. But between 98 and 99, you gain 7. So it will depend on your specific level. Thanks i will do the math for later levels when i hit like 40-50 i am only level 18 blu right now i feel like i am cheating when i book burn and i really like playing blu so i want to have fun with it and i now that i think about it can say that spell farming can be a good way to kill time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Does it still work even if Dia does 0 damage? no it doesn't.
Kawar if you're learning spells you need to take the mob down to 24% hp for the best results.
mob at 50% or higher use tp moves randomly
mob at 25-49% hp does a tp move right when it gets 200% tp
mob at 1-24% hp always performs a tp move as soon as it gets 100% tp[/quote]Thanks now i have a good idea of how to farm the spells i want.

Is AoE magic spam a fast way to level BLU magic?

Cool, thanks. Been just doing crawlers, unless there's another room with Viseclaws? Seems pointless to try and pull a crab through the crawlers and puks lol.

@ Kawar ... when i learned Blue Magic i did't have whm or rdm lvld, i subbed nin for evasion bonus( but did NOT cast shadows),and used 2-3 Bludgeons immediately to get mob into the hp range(25% or less) to force the mob into using tp moves as soon as it gained 100 tp, also i believe Bludgeon feeds the mob a higher rate of tp, iirc. just turn ur back and cast.

When did nin actually get evasion bonus?

They don't. THF/DNC/BLU (with trait set) only.
Edit: I see you were being facetious. Whoosh. Leaving this up for clarity.

ty for the clarification on the amount of tp feed josiah. and tbh i guess learning Blue Magic is to each their own. all i can further suggest is find ur own way u are comfortable with and do some testing/research. these forums are a font of knowledge if u listen to the right people.

You're totally right. The evasion bonus page on BG doesn't list it, but they have it listed under the PUP page.

If I'm reading wiki right, you have that backwards.
Edit: Read the talk page on old wiki. Someone threw evasion bonus iv on PUP because of " the trend that PUPs get Evasion Bonuses every 20 levels". BGWiki has actual testing for DNC getting T4.

Dancer gets Evasion Bonus IV with B+ skill.
Puppetmaster may get Evasion Bonus IV, but it's only confirmed to have up to III and has B skill.
Puppetmaster isn't exactly a popular job out of which to test the ***.

most are resistant to light-based sleep, and some in salvage are un-sleepable to begin with. though at 99, it should be no problem to land lullaby on gears.

Double Attack or OAT Chauve-Sauris for DRG?
Last I heard was OAT is still second to Ryu (Herja's?), but recently have had DA suggested to me as well. Thanks!
For those of you that visit Bg you already know the premise of this thread but for those that don't, it's simple.
Quote: This thread is for off-the-cuff questions that don't merit a full topic to answer. 'What should I wear for my level 65 pup?' 'What's the best way to learn the Qutrub Blu spell?'
General Guidelines.
Any questions goes be it FFXI related or not this community has a plethora of people surely one will be able to assist you.
Please don't bash people for asking questions hating someone for seeking knowledge even if you deem it a stupid thing to ask makes you look like an even bigger tool.
If your answer is on the large side either providing a link or spoilering the answer might be a good idea to help reduce the thread size.
Have fun!
