This is really annoying me because I know I have forgotten something <_<
1. Ico, before they ruined it with a little 2-second postscript.
2. Final Fantasy VII, before they ruined it with another shitty game and a terrible movie. 3. Every other video game ending sucks, especially all of the other Final Fantasy series. in no order
DoA4 (made me sad but liked the true ending) beyond good and evil Grandia 2 id say Mass Effect, but not until I finish 3 Tales of Symphonia ill update as i remember more I don't know if I can really give it a top 5, buuuuuuuuut...

Persona 4 FF6 FF4 Heavy Rain had some really good ones (really f-ed up stuff. GREAT PS3 exclusive) Pretty much every Suikoden game (but tactics. fun game but the ending was meh) Earthbound Agree with many on others' lists, but MGS3 by far has the best ending of any game in any series ever.
Being a fan and understanding what the finale of that game meant in relation to the rest of the series is unbelievable. Big Boss and his sons, and those they encounter, are men you can truly do nothing but cry for. Off the top of my head I can't think of any modern game endings that were awesome.
I remember SNES game endings that were good. I'd go with these in no particular order. Final Fantasy IV Chrono Trigger Soul Blazer Final Fantasy VI After that I might throw in some PC titles like Final Fantasy VII, Heroes of Might and Magic V, and I kinda like the ending to Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Remembered a few more to toss in.

1. Final Fantasy X (I don't think the end was ruined due to X-2 since the last scene of the game is the beginning of the ending scene of X-2.)
2. Final Fantasy XIII-2 (as where the disc ends, excluding any DLC to come out that is story based.) 3. Final Fantasy VIII 4. Shadow of the Colossus (I can't believe there isn't more people with this listed...) 5. Gears of War (Raam fight is just epic.) I don't remember the ending to Shadow of the Colossus.

Can't think of anymore than were moving, shocking, or unexpected atm. o, the last two parts of Heavy Rain were a twist, but it wasn't really an ending per se because you still had to playthrough them. EDIT: FF Tactics and Ys Seven had pretty good endings to them too. I love Shadow of the Colossus, but the ending was... confusing. I'm down with going from place to place killing Colossi, but the ending isn't on par with the rest of the game... like at all. Comes out of left field.
Great game, but the ending... it's more wtf worthy than great. I'd say Persona 4 has the most heart-warming ending of any video game I've played. Portal 2 would be a close second.

I hate XBox so I wont play one of the best JRPGs ever made. Right, that makes sense. Also the best ending for me was the Bioshock 2 DLC campaign ending. It's also my favorite DLC of all time. Bastion for XBLA/PC also had a really good ending. You could choose one of two endings and also you could choose to save someone at the end, which was a pretty cool way to end it. I dislike the Xbox as much as the next guy, but Lost Odyssey actually made it worthwhile for being a relatively decent modernized RPG compared to others that either are lackluster and disappointing or tiptoe across what defines it within the genre of being an RPG.

Though it's been ages since I last played/beat it, and generally the whole thing was a mindfuck. Almost like asking if Evangelion has a good ending. In general, no. In the grand scheme of things and how ridiculously crazy things are, not bad... Yeah I remember something about casting magics in certain order according to color, that's all I really remember of the end.
