{Hello!}

So I got Nin to 99, started building gear sets, and have started leveling up the necessary weapon skills.

My Questions are:

1) What is a good combat skill to have before I start attempting Red Staggers? Should I just get it to the level of the WS? Should I get it to 200+? Cap them all? At what combat skill level would I not be "gimp"?

2) Should I use high damage weapons when staggering or low damage weapons?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

The weapon skills cannot miss (except for GK ones), and obviously you want to be able to use them as quickly as possible. That's really all the information you need to know.

The WS's can miss, lol. Nothing in the game has 100% accuracy.

As NIN, your natural skills will allow you to have 350+ on Katana, Great Katana, Sword, Dagger, and Club. However, the club and sword WS that red proc are not available to NIN, so you need to be /war.

The Staff and Polearm weapons are not a natural weapon for NIN, so you would have to skill those up on a different job, like WAR. Also, since they are not a natural weapon, your skill cap would be limited to the subjob skill cap, which as /49war, is 144 for both Polearm and staff. Anything above this is pointless. To get Sunburst (level 150), you will either need to use 3 merit points into staff or have Temperance Torque.

This.
Jinpu and koki can, however, because they'r hybrid magical/physical.(Sneak attack works on them too)

Edit:
A full proper resist would only ever happen if a mob uses some kind of magic shield move.
Otherwise a full resist would just result in 0 dmg, but that would still be able to proc.

You could also use Hakke Hachimaki and merit 1 point into staff for it.
