It's over way too soon to be a true irritation. I disagree about it being unnecessary - it is used greatly when you find out the end result of Yuna's journey and he realises that he essentially was joking around about her death. Ouch!

i loved ff8, its was and will always be my fav ff game, it was my first so im pretty sure i'm biased. I loved the story i loved the fighting system and i loved teh customizability (adding death to your attacks or drain ((OMG))) but i look at ff8 and ff13 from a distance, i have to say ff13 is better quality, story may be better, characters are definately developed better.. theres no real love interest created which is sad.. trying not have nostalgia goggle son i have to say ff13 is better

And I hate idiots making these videos for a reason. It is NOT a deus ex machina because it is consistent throughout the game and not introduced right at the end either.

It's fairly easy to explain and hinted at throughout the game.
tl;dr: Bevelle invades Zanarkand. Zanarkand gets largely eaten. Yu Yevon, leader of Zanarkand, takes the survivors to the top of Mount Gagazet and turns them into Fayth via the art of summoning. He then uses them to create a projection of his Zanarkand - Dream Zanarkand (Tidus's Zanarkand) and sends it far out to sea (around Baal Temple, which is why Tidus appears there after being ejected from Dream Zanarkand).
When you kill the dreamer, the dream ends.
The first time you hear about the machina war is early on, and it is often referenced. You know Zanarkand is destroyed from a VERY early stage. You know it got destroyed in the Machina War, not by Sin. Therefore there is an inconsistency. There is an inconsistency about why you appear in the middle of the ocean after being attacked by Sin. Notice when they said that Jecht swam out to sea and never returned? Why? Airships are machina and hence forbidden so there is no chance he would see the Dream Zanarkand.
Inside Sin at the beginning you see a destroyed version of the stadium. Why? Why can you recognise Bahamut's fayth? What is a fayth? It is told to you many, many times throughout. You first are explicitly told about the situation on Mount Gagazet.
At no point does it come out of the blue. It is there ALL ALONG.

I like 10's story, but the characters are honestly terrible. Tidus is a star of water football with an interesting story but a very flat personality. If he didn't have the romance with Yuna he'd be incredibly boring.
Yuna makes you want to shoot yourself over and over with her constant whining.
Wakka is just there cause you need someone playing the part of the fool believer, his contribution to the story is naught(except for banging his late brother's wife).
Lulu plays the part of Yuna's guide, but she's as interesting as a lamp.
Auron is badass.
Rikku is the typical fun sidekick, she makes up for the light moments and connects you to the al bhed drama, but that's it.
Kimhari...OH GOD DON'T MAKE ME EVEN START ON HIM!!!

Honestly I odn't mind X's characters that much. I just think they don't need Kimhari in the game and no one would notice. If anything we'd be happy over less random cat dude *** on the screen.

Tidus goes from being very "wishy-washy" to having an adamant will. He is largely swept by the plot at the beginning of the game but by the end, he is controlling it. It is no exaggeration to say that he is the single most important factor to the direction of the game post-Zanarkand Ruins. He is a worthy protagonist and displays very human weaknesses.
Yuna doesn't whine much! I think she takes everything very well given her ridiculous circumstances, and having to challenge everything she believes in cannot be easy.
Wakka/Lulu have an interesting romantic dynamic which develops and he provides much comic relief. It is also touching to see Lulu's attitude towards Tidus soften as the game goes on, as she realises that he is not such an idiot.
Auron is very emotionally controlled but consumed by grief/guilt. That scene near the end in ZK Ruins where he goes to slice his own apparition is powerful.
Rikku is hardly groundbreaking but she's a solid enough character and develops relationships with the existing cast, and her character vs Wakka's is amusing and again satisfying when their relationship develops.
Kimahri is the only character out of the main cast I'd consider particularly dull.

You really need to play X again and pay attention to it before you try to poke holes in it.

Why is it dubious and ridiculous? It is absolutely possible within the parameters of the game's world and you are told this from the outset. Are you saying you didn't find it a powerful twist when Tidus is going to end up destroying himself (or so he thinks...) by destroying Yu Yevon , leading to that really painful scene at the end?
FFX is a rollercoaster of twists which are there from the very start but only revealed to you gradually and that is why I loved it so much.
1. Sin is Jecht - you can see Jecht in the middle of Sin when you first get swallowed, along with a burning version of the symbol on his chest there.
2. Yuna is going to die at the end of her pilgrimage - this is constantly hinted throughout with body language and such (see: Lulu's reaction after Yuna's water dance in Kilika) along with the mysterious absence of any surviving High Summoners.
3. Tidus is a dream - discussed above.
4. Sin is Yevon - a bit odd that the main religion outlaws anything that could possibly beat Sin...
Of those main twists (and there are several smaller ones), they are ALL introduced much earlier in the game. It is never sprung on you. I consider that good writing, and why it irks me when idiots make videos like that one without understanding all of the nuances of the game's story.
I think you're looking for reasons to dislike it again.

If the term "dream" annoys you, think of Alternate Zanarkand as a massive Aeon.
Anything that is not of Alternate/Dream Zanarkand is considered "real" within the game. The use of "dream" is just used because you have all of these fayth in a dormant state maintaining this image (like a dream) and that if the dreamer wakes, the dream ends (Fayth end, so does the alternate Zanarkand aeon). It is a metaphor.
EDIT: It's also used to convey the idea that Dream Zanarkand and Sin itself is realllly surreal.
does anyone else agree that ffxiii was diferent from the rest and that it was just walking to kill a monster that u had to fight then folowing the game and being able to do nothing nor read any of the text at all whatso ever it was like size 7 leters >.>
