I was looking into building my gf a pc about a month ago and came up with this list (tried making it public but it's not showing it yet)

I'm curious why you chose dual GTX 560 and not dual GTX 560 Ti?

Since you're going the SSD route (great choice on crucial btw) why not just go crucial m4 128gb for boot/essentials and use the 2x500gb raid0 drives as programs/games/storage.

I only say that because I recently built two systems with crucial m4 128gb ssds and they were just under $200+tax each so it won't be too big of a difference!

just picked it, didn't really research the card too deeply, probably just picked a price of a card on the list in newegg iirc, and I'm planning on using the ssd for testing out a feature that the chipset supports:

this is said feature

edit: I love my crucial ram

I know what SRT is, I was just wondering why use SRT when you can just use a 128gb ssd as the boot drive because using ssd as boot > using ssd as cache (SRT) > no ssd at all.

Figured i'd bump this thread instead of creating a new one; i'm a long time 360 player and gunna build a PC.

Problem is i know very little about PC's and hardware and my budget is pretty low due to being 16 and needing as much of my wage as i can save but i wanna splash out around £300 i think, which is like $450 or so...

Friend suggested this: Linky

Oh, and gaming wise i only really wanna run FFXI, my PS3 runs everything else better than i can afford to build a PC for atm.

Thanks~~

If you're just gonna be playing FFXI that computer is more than enough, hell I think it's probably better than my current PC and I'm playing Skyrim on it so...

Alright, cool. Don't need a monitor cause i'm gunna rig it through my TV with HDMI but apart from an operating system is that tower good to go?

Tigerdirect has some decent barebones for around 300, but most don't come with a good gpu, atleast what I would consider good for gaming. If you live near a microcenter, they sell they cheapest processors as far as I know. Depends if your willing to go over 300, also since its the holidays if you see a piece of hardware you know is a good deal buy it. Like my current case coolermaster haf 922 $100+ case, but I got for 60 on amazon with free shipping then it sat around for three months till I found a deal on a new psu. Just don't buy liteon optical drives their firmware support sucks especially if your looking for bluray (last sentance slighty off topic but it will save you a headache don't buy lite-on if you can avoid it).

@Krazyrs. That's a fine rig you have, if you really want a upgrade, add a ssdfor the OS, if you have a sli mobo buy a 500 series then run that 460 as dedicated physics. If you power supply can handle it. I also find it hard to belive it suggest medium for skyrim I'm tempted to get it to see what my 260 and q9550 run it at.

@Krazyrs your cheapest option is to pick up another geforce gtx465 if you can find one for cheap (under $100) assuming your system is equipped to handle two video cards.

otherwise it's a toss up between getting a geforce gtx 560ti or a radeon hd6950, depending on whatever is cheaper at the time.

As said if it's just for FFXI then yeah...but TBH the Athlon is a very soft CPU.

The HD 69502 gb and the GTX 560ti 2gb are both very nice.

Nope.
Of the two though I do believe the 6950 is a tad stronger but more costly.
