possible the severe damage is in reference to the base damage? so occ being more base damage than what is says which would be reasoning for it not to be noticed? kinda shooting in the dark here, but i dont see many other good explanations.

A large increase in base damage would be very noticeable.

As of 99 update the effect did nothing.

Today i have been solo spamming Seps because i need rdm/bst seals and i have seen plenty of x4 procs. Average crits as dnc/war were ~250 and i was seeing random crits for 450-500 w/o CF (RR,GH,Apoc). Im not sure what else can do this and i dont have emp. I am using Coruscanti/evasion dagger with regular capped haste build/decent WS build.

581 crit,481 crit, and 491 all in 1 fight. CF was used at start and was probably active for first but other 2 were random.

The 581 looks like a double damage (Samba) crit with the 20% damage bonus from tiara. the 481 and 491 both look like normal double damage crits, active because of samba.

Ive had Fan Dance on quite a bit for that stupid sleep move since im only paying half attention. I could be wrong and if i am...doh.
Is severe dmg = x4 original*non-crit* dmg-ish or what?

I don't think GMs have the information about whether items are actually working or not.
If there were a severe damage effect, I would have seen it while testing the crit rate on Coru.

I wonder what forum he's reading, lol.
Actually, I wonder what jpwiki says about coruscanti.

Well, it could be from that temporary hiccup we had where we thought Coruscanti did 4x damage.

I think it's "inactive" or there is a translation error on it.
Remember that GMs do not know how, play, They read a database.
I remember the episode on Unicorn server where a GM ask to zone Tiamat at one linkshell. We were 75 and Tiamat has Draw In.

JP wiki says it deals 4x damage at a low rate of fire (<1%). But so far, no one has seen anything to support even that.

Logical fallacy by GM
He hasn't heard any report, so it must be not broken.

We do not have any information that it is not broken.

I can give you 100 percent honesty about GMs...dont ask how I know, I just know.
• GMs are initially hired by Kelley Staffing Services, it is a temp agency that hires people with no formal education and have somewhat of a criminal background.
• A standard background check is done but if you dont have any physical or finanical negative listings you can still get a position.
• The average GM has never played online games period. They rarely even know how to type (as i've witnessed).
• All internal game functions are not known to the GMs, such as if X will drop from this mob or when Y will pop. The rate of procs on a weapon or gear is also not known.
• There are only a couple of GMs that actually play or have played FFXI on their own time. Two: [GM] Ioptex and [GM] Caedmon were the only two that played end game and know what the hell to do with end game scenerios.
So unless things have changed in the last two years, the GM was speaking out of his *** and didn't really know what he was talking about.

we could all make a statement... and all of us submit a different thread in the "in-game-bugs" selection

I can assure you it work but the trigger rate is very low, I don't have any parse data but just eyeballing from my hours of skilling up on thf, seem having a below 5% rate. it is very rare, when it work my normal swing critical damage spiked from 250-300 to 1k-1.2k range on lolbirds. I can't confirm if it work on ws or not, need to spam ws on NM with bigger hp meter to test it out and I don't have the chance to do so yet.

What gear were you wearing?
By Chyula 2012-01-30 14:35:20
most AF3+2 except the feet, raja, brutal, that earring from odin, af3 rang, cor/triplus, athealing mantle, twilight belt.
atma is rr/gh/apoc or rr/gh/ss don't remember, but the spike make sense with divided by 4 and it land in the same range as other none spiked criticals. if you are thinking of af3 proc then the spike value don't make much sense when divided by 3.
Long time lurker on forums here, hi.
I recently got a coruscanti, and I've had for about a week now. I haven't noticed any quadruple damage shots just eyeballing. I decided to single wield the dagger and parse attacks on seaboard vultures, the birds in Misareaux. The dagger was single-wielded and no samba was used just in case. I have 1414 attacks recorded and not one of them can be even remotely considered quadruple damage.
Normal hit low: 65
Normal hit high: 160
Average: 90.94
Critical low: 158
Critical high: 250
Average: 193.48
I know this is pseudo-statistics, but it seems unsettling that I haven't seen a quadruple damage attack yet after 1414 swings. I'm not saying it's not true, but is there any proof that the severe damage is quadruple damage?
Thanks for your time if you read this.
