Only explanation I can see or hope for, is that Tobi found Obito's bound, and is using it to retain his "immortal" form.

One thing is for sure, Obito survived until he became a grown up.
Although, someone raised a point when he said Tobi had long hair when he fought Minato. At this point, I think it was Madara. So, the real one is somewhere else.

Excuse me but how is having long hair an argument? It's not like he's bald and magically grew hair.

He hair has been the same. the only time it was longer was when itachi went to confront him before he killed the Uchihas. which was well after Minato. so like you said, its grasping at straws.

The long hair argument is ridiculous. You're making it sound like the Kyuubi attacked the DAY Obito 'died' as opposed to about a year later. Plenty of time to grow his hair out.

And it wasn't Madara. He's shown no sign of kamui use in his fight with the Kages. And as I've said before, each pair of eyes has it's own specialization. Madara's specialization is an absolutely complete and stabilized Susano-o thats power rivals that of a Bijuu.

MAYBE someone has possessed Obito's body. But all we knew of Obito was from Kakashi's point of view. We just saw stuff from Obito's and he didn't look particularly fond of Kakashi, nor anyone else. Besides Rin. I'm entirely convinced the only reason Obito gave his eye to Kakashi was because he believed he was going to die and so that he could, in some way, help keep Rin safe.

The bitterness of unrequited love and the death of Rin, along with being shown up by Kakashi in every way, including earning Rin's affection, could have easily turned him into a very bitter and angry person.

EDIT: And his hatred for Konoha? Easy, they clearly didn't even try to recover his body to bury/burn properly. He probably took it as a sign that they didn't really give a ***about him.

or the space/time sharingan lets him to some training similar to the hyperbolic time chamber in DBZ

Madara was believed to be the one controlling the 4th mizukage which is why kisame would call him that. also obito could of used genjutsu on kisame to make him think he was madara.. since he obviously wanted everyone thinking he was madara.

idk about nagato... xD could of been some uchiha secret he read about at some point to unleash the jyubi.. idk.

and it seems as though obito merged? or w/e with zetsu. to recover what was damaged. or zetsu might of just cloned obito. who knows
