New Recipes = Increase in Level Cap?

To say 'huge changes to crafting' is a complete understatement...
I’m rather excited for the new changes and glad I’m no longer going to have to go on a 4 hour magical journey to gather materials to craft a simple item. In the link above is the new lodestone post about crafting recipes and I noticed a lot of very exciting changes!
Mythril weapons, mythril armor, steel weapons, steel armor, cobolt weapons, cobolt armor, more linen gear, woolen gear, fent gear, and a LOT more!! I see recipes for rosewood, raptor skins, and a nice variety of different dyes, also other stuff such as Tortoiseshell Scale Mail.
Anyways, with all this new gear being released, that must mean the increase of level cap, cause there is no way mythril/steel/kobolt armor is going to squeeze in-between iron armor (R48) and the current max level.
So, has anyone heard anything about the max level cap being raised? and if so, by how much? R60 or higher?
By SniperRifle 2011-09-29 04:56:57
I may be off topic but with the live broadcast of 1.19 patch notes for the "special 1 year anniversary." but maybe yoshi is going to leak info on a raised lvl cap?
Totally speculating but just cause you brought it up and I'm kind of looking forward to a cap increase. I haven't leveled dow/dom classes in half a year.
And looking at 11's patch notes, they raised the cap to 55 4 months into 11's release (iirc).
oooh, that might be why the HP was so high on some of the characters in the ifrit video too, but again... just speculating. I have no time to get solid facts. ;;

i don't think they will max the level cap now coz it will be a big news and a big change for the game, still maybe

What is "faces of mercy medallion" it is mentioned as existing item!

lol... so true.
Maybe they will change the levels of items to accommodate the new ones?
I'm loving the changes posted though.

Hmm. Looks like they're making it harder to get raw materials for goldsmithing/blacksmithing.
Am I reading that wrong?

In the Ifrit video Archer and Thaumaturge are both level 50, you can see it in the EXP bar under the skill bar.

The higher HP is due to the stat changes and them having a greater effect
By MystinaValeth 2011-09-29 11:47:03
Damn Sleepymithos is correct, you can see that the archers and thm’s rank is 50. The max hp/mp in the Ifrit video was another huge reason why I thought there would be an increase in level cap too.
Although you can clearly see that their rank is 50, it doesn’t show their progress bar, the border around the video is completely solid where the progress bar is, making it impossible to see if they are still at 0/110,000 or if they actually have exp into their ranks... Anyways Fearforever made a great point and is very most likely correct about the hp/mp.
Someone told me that in the .dat files, steel cuirass is rank 58 and kobolt cuirass is rank 68. That would make sense since equipment usually goes in increments of 10 (ex: bronze cuirass R38 > iron cuirass R48). Of course even if this is true, these are still completely subject to change before 1.19...
Personally, I hope they are lowering the rank of the current items to accommodate the implementation of these new items… The reason why I say that is because this new equipment looks exactly the same as the old equipment except with a few added things/colors (example: bronze, iron, mythril, steel, & kobolt cuirass all look the same, except mythril, steel, & kobolt have a few added things such as plated shoulder pads), that way when they do increase the level cap, hopefully they’ll have more room for creating more unique equipment and not more copy paste equipment...

Make it easier to lessen the command required for every repair and animation
2.修理される側がダークマターを用意可能にすることで、クラフターの手間を大幅に軽減
Make it where dark matter can be prepared by the person requesting repair and greatly lessen crafters work.
3.ダークマターG6(レベル50以上の装備専用)を追加しG5の仕様と価格を再度調整
Add dark matter G6 (For equipment past level 50) and modify the G5.

Just curious, but how are you sure of that Calemero? and when is the PS3 release date for FFXIV? I'm just curious if you read something a dev said or something, or if you are just assuming.

By Gonks 2011-09-29 18:17:43
level cap wont be increased until PS3. yup. I really don't see SE increasing the level cap until PS3
By Inah 2011-09-29 19:41:36
there's no point SE increasing the level cap before PS3 version to make ps3 users getting far more left behind since FFXIV's designed for PS3 originally unless they already changed their plan to not release the console version which's nearly impossible due to the PC version game already has received some worst reputation from its past.
By Calemero 2011-09-29 19:53:33
Simple as this: SQEX is a JP co. 80% of their market is in JP console gamers. Did they run into programming problems with the PS3? Yes. Is that why we only have the PC version at the moment? Yes. Will they release the PS3 version before this game is presentable to the masses? No.
SQEX isn't going to black ball 80% of their market by pushing them so far behind the curve as to raise the level cap before the console release hits. Jobs will likely come out before PS3 but that is a win/win because a) they start at Lv.30 which is basically the XI advanced job system and b) it will be more content for the console gamers to enjoy.
I would expect a 5-10 level cap increase @ PS3 release (which is hopefully Feb-Mar 2012).
By Inah 2011-09-29 20:23:00
Agree with Calemero.
And I would guess PS3 version coming out in Summer around July to Aug after SE making some major announcement in E3 next year. Launching would be worldwide of course and SE will be done with FF13-2 sale(which comes in the end of Jan for NA/EU players, from the past experience SE never released 2major titled FF games close enough to each other's aze one by one which's to prevent profits getting hurt) at that time.
PS: FF13versus coming out around Dec 2012 to Jan 2013 for Japanese(my guess).

Actually, they said what the new level of the gear is going to be. If anything we're looking at scaled back levels for most of whats out there. Like the iron based materials since Steel>Iron etc. Plus we also have the cobalt gear as well. There's no really solid info about increasing level at all based on lodestone posts which are the only really official thing to go on (when it's a mod post or Yoshi P post).
I would say that if you expect anything it's probably what I just mentioned or nothing at all. We'll know for sure in a few days! =D

Many different stores have a 'release date' quoted but none of them are correct. Like if you look at amazon.com it says
This item will be released on December 31, 2012.

Q: On the Lodestone, level 51-60 recipes were posted. What is the meaning of this? Will the level cap be lifted?
A: Whether the cap will be lifted is a separate question. We posted these recipes to show off some new items as well as the necessity for equipment for high level and crafts that level 50 players can gain experience from.
Q: How will you earn spiritbond points for Materia Craft? Will it be based on the number of hits? Parties you're in? When does it reach 100%?
A: Spiritbond will increase when you earn experience points.
