Unkai is 5% zanshin no? that equals 1.25% nabis-zanshin, which is really only saving you 2 swings, while atheling is 3% DA which in turn is 3 swings. However with enough zanshin in gear, you could get 2% nabis-zanshin return. Now while they do save round or 2, the 3% DA on atheling is also 3 hits that can have aftermath proc on it, while an extra hit from nabis-zanshin is only 1 or 2 hits max for aftermath. Theyre very close though.
Unkai is 10% zanshin. (he was referring to the body.)
Played with SAM all day yesterday during VW. This set is hard to beat.

so basically is a 6hit+haste cap better than a 5hit without haste cap?

Eikechi said: And then I have another question for you Hito... Aethling? I thought it was determined Unkai was just as good if not better?
Taint said: Played with SAM all day yesterday during VW. This set is hard to beat. True, but so is:
+3% faster swings
+5%crit or +2% quad attack
+11-16accuracy more
+55attack more
+8fstr more
However, like I said if your situation or playing style suits a 5hit build go for it. My only notes where to optimalize the current 6hit build for outside higher mobs.

Assuming atmacite of latitude as one of my atmas allow me to use goading belt, and pole grip rather then bullwhip and rose? Not only does latitude offer 2% haste but also tp bonus +50 which I can imagine would be a bigger boost to WS then anything else.

Except outside on harder mobs you won't be rocking SB-15 or +pdt10 gear. (probably aren't full time meleeing either) I was a huge promoter of a 6hit masa build at the 90 cap, but the gear has changed and the sacrafices to 5hit now are minimal. SAMs damage distribution is heavily favored towards WS frequency.

If damage taken +10 is an issue on the mob youre on, than Im sure youll be rocking pdt/mdt sets for said mob, favoring a 6hit more since you can 6hit with both sets unlike 5hit.
I can agree -15 SB can be a lot, swap to unkai body set again and youll be fine.
Im not saying 6hit >5hit always, as in your situation 5hit benefits you more, because youve already killed all your melee damage going with /thf and thus with your group/setup more than anything your ws is all youre concentrating on thus focusing your build on just getting your ws in is what your 5hit is accomplishing.

Actually I was /WAR the whole time. Nobody is selfish enough to TP in Ace's body on a VW mob and once you swap on Unkai body why not just use my build?

Barbarian Mittens + Sharpeye Mantle + Timarli Dastanas + Veloce Zuchetto + Calmecac Subligar + Ganesha's Mala + Ace's Mail + Arbuda Grip is the sexiest, most effective TP setup for any job. Good luck my friends.

How many people actually have Ace's body already? It's a fairly common drop from Uptala, so it's not as unreasonable to build with as say, Fazheluo Radiant Mail.

if you were wanting to increase over all attack speed for a 6 hit type build wouldn't a sword strap be better?

Question about Konzen-ittai here, i'm not very good with words so ill try to describe this best i can
my situation here is, i am sam/thf fighting briareus
when i solo skillchain (without konzen), the skillchain will most always do more damage than the closing weaponskill
so rana 1.7k -> fudo 2k -> darkness 2.1k~
yeah yeah completely normal, but when i use konzen and close light from sneak attack + fudo, light will always do around 2~k range
so Fudo 4k -> light 2k
it seems as if there is a cap on konzen ittai's skillchain damage because i have been here for almost a full 50~ helms briareus run. I have yet to see it's skillchain damage do more
using RR/VV/Sanguine
tl;dr
with sneak attack + fudo, konzen ittai seems to do less than half damage of the closing weaponskill.

Maximum for a level 3, 2 weaponskill skillchain (with konzen + fudo) is 100% of the closing weaponskill. While, a level 3, 3 weaponskill skillchain (konzen + rana + fudo) is 150%. The skillchain can also be resisted to further alter those numbers.

your not understanding what im trying to say
yes the maximum for a level 3 skillchain is 100% of the closing weaponskill, however since samurai has skillchain bonus traits it often does more than the closing weaponskill
What im experiencing is the light skillchain is dealing less than half of the closing weaponskill, i dont know if this is due to razed ruins + sanguine scythe or sneak attack, or if it is a konzen nerf
edit: i doubt its resists occuring because i've been out here trying it for quite some time and i have never seen it exceed the closing weaponskill
edit #2: gonna start keeping track of my weaponskill numbers and light numbers and post them tonight

I understand what you're saying. Is it a constant thing, or just every so often you will see a 2k? Resists go in 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, so it would make sense that it would be roughly 2k if fudo did 4k. However, if KI -> Fudo does a 2k skillchain while fudo does 4k every time it's safe to say it's just KI "nerf".
So many of these SAM gear posts its retarded but im just not sure what im missing here
TP Phase
WS Phase
Now the thing is that i was testing it out etc and i got 18 return on WS which was all good.
Now i attacked in TP and ended with 80 TP which was a DA and that means i got 62 that round which is 31 per swing. Then i attack once more for a single attack and got 20.
So how did i get 62 in 1 round and 20 in another? If it was simply a DA proc from brutal wouldnt it be 40 TP not 62?
Will also note that this is 95 SAM / 47 BLM to get rid of /war DA proc. Thanks for any help as im just trying to find out what im missing here.
Not in Abyssea (forgot to note this)
