Most of the things in the set Wolf posted earlier are pretty cheap or free, barring the herald's gaiters. You could even get by with a NQ cape if you really needed. Also, don't worry about ixion cloak if you are working on the +2 body. If I remember right, the AF3 body is +2 MP a tick.
Edit: Ha, beat you to 2K wolf.
Body is 1mp/tick :(
Still free once I can actually get the cards of ardor at least.

And the NQ cape I speak of is Cheviot, Umbra being the HQ one. And yes, the sublimation earring would be better than a PDT one while sublimation is active.
Hrm... 80k for -5% PDT or 800k for -6% PDT... ^_^

Things you want in an Idle set (sch is going to have multiple depending on stuff):
Refresh
Sublimation+ stuff
Movement Speed
PDT (if fear of getting hit or physical AoEs)
MDT (if fear of getting nuked or magic AoEs)
I suggest idling in Sublimation+ stuff when sublimation is active and your MP is above say 90%.
I suggest idling in Refresh whenever sublimation is not active or your MP is under say 90%.
Movement speed is for when you're running, otherwise idle in refresh feet/legs what have you.
Regen gear and converts damage to MP gear are also neat pieces to have in an idle set if you can fit them in.
Edit: On WHM I don't usually have room for both a MDT set and a PDT set so I just idle in MDT because that's usually what I get hit by. If I'm getting whacked by garbage mobs I have a Owleyes->Terra's macro. SE needs to release more space srsly.

This is 50% pdt at night time provided you're not using serpentes cuffs (which you really should be at night time on a mage)
dark rings with 5% pdt/mdt aswell.
melaco mittens aside that's the pdt part of my idle set on rdm.
Edit: Sch can't even use melaco mittens, sorry if I misled anyone :(

Hrm... 80k for -5% PDT or 800k for -6% PDT... ^_^ White boxed items of course will have the higher price to pay, seeing as how they're rarer to come across when synthing them, and they are the best for what they do. If you want to go for NQ that's fine, but the HQ is definately something to shoot for.

^ I had a Cheviot for the longest time. Actually bought Umbra just for PvP. I'm so cool I know. Also people used to make fun of me for Coral Rings. I was poor. :(

I really should buy some HQ items to replace my NQ, but I'm just scared that after the 95 update I'll be down like 23412349134512934 gil because fluffybutt radiant mail from x-nm or something will replace whatever I just bought.
I'll just hoard my gil like I do old newspapers and used milk cartons for the time being I s'pose

Til you found a RMT right? ^_^ what? Are you trying to say that only RMTs can afford HQ? Because that's simply not the case, there's millions of ways to make good gil, it just takes dedication. I'd list some examples but that kind of would be derailing a sch-oriented thread.
off the top of my head I s'pose: Hakuryus, npcing teal/perle/bubblegumpink, mercing gear/empyreans, selling alexandrite/bynes/bronzepieces/whiteshells etc.

I do the same unless I'm positive it's not going to get replaced. Like most of the SMN buyable stuff. :X

True :(
I don't recall that actually costing that much until after the SMN burn craze. Of course I had it before all that nonsense! :D
I think the earring was a decent chunk of gil though.

Damn straight. >:3
I had a particular spell cast working fine. But when I try to add in a rule to change to a different type of ring when MP will be 51% after cast it doesn't seem to work, I've tried longer variants such as having an else if for greater than 50 as well as the less than 51.
The variables in question:
Code <var name="INTRingl">Icesoul Ring</var>
<var name="MNDRingl">Sirona's Ring</var>
<var name="INTRingr">Aquilo's Ring</var>
<var name="MNDRingr">Solemn Ring</var>
<var name="MNDRingrLOW">Miseria Ring</var>
And the segment that changes rings based on type of magic. Code
<if Skill="EnfeeblingMagic">
<action type="equip" set="Enfeebling" />
<if type="BlackMagic">
<action type="equip">
<rring>$INTRingr</rring>
<lring>$INTRingl</lring>
</action>
</if>
<elseif type="WhiteMagic">
<action type="equip" when="precast">
<rring>$MNDRingr</rring>
<lring>$MNDRingl</lring>
</action>
<if MPPAftercastLT="51">
<action Type="equip" when="midcast">
<rring>$MNDRingrLOW</rring>
</action>
</if>
</elseif>
</if>
<elseif Skill="EnhancingMagic">
<action type="equip" when="precast">
<rring>$MNDRingr</rring>
<lring>$MNDRingl</lring>
</action>
<if MPPAftercastLT="51">
<action Type="equip" when="midcast">
<rring>$MNDRingrLOW</rring>
</action>
</if>
</elseif>
<elseif Skill="DarkMagic">
<action type="equip">
<rring>$INTRingr</rring>
<lring>$INTRingl</lring>
</action>
</elseif>
<elseif Skill="DivineMagic">
<action type="equip" when="precast">
