Surprisingly, between here and Alla, I could not find a single thread which deals with WAR merits, so I thought I would ask here.
Recently, I levelled my WAR to 90 (Easymode Abyssea version, though I am a longtime player, just never considered WAR before). I was wondering what people merit on their Warriors these days. In group one, it seems like Double Attack is a no brainer, but I'm hesitant with the others until I got some feedback from the community.
Which areas should I be looking at meriting on WAR specifically? All my other general categories are actually full, though I did but 8 merits in G. Axe for lack of anything else (It's what happens when you are primarily a Sword/Shield job lol).
Thanks in advance!

Double attack 5/5
Berserk recast 5/5
Warriors charge 5/5
Savagery 5/5 some people may also unlock tomahawk
That's the way to go. You will have zerk up as much as possible which is optimal, W.charge and Warcry will be up at the same time. Granted you use them together for those lovely spike ws', which is powered by Savagery.

blood rage and warrior's charge are better used in unison with one-another (blood rage and warcry don't stack etc), but regardless, recent speculation (as an example) is that a 25 tp bonus augmented moonshade earring grants ~2-3% critical hit rate on ukko's fury (effectively making it a pretty damn nice ws earring, bar for when inside abyssea with blood rage up since you should be capping critical hit rate with gear/atmas/rage), so, 5/5 savagery basically does double that, making warcry not as meh as it usually is
besides, honestly, there's yet to be a true moment where i actually wish i had tony hawk merited

Does Tomahawk work on mobs with an base damage taken -%? Like, it lowers specific types of damage resistances, but does it work against mobs like Carabosse, who just take less damage in general?

It completely removes any magical/physical damage resistances if it has any, does not work on abilities/spells like coccoon/phalanx/Shell/Pro and the like.

i was under the assumption tomahawk only applied to targets under the natural enhancing effect of damage reduction, i.e slimes/elementals/bones, though, i wouldn't be surprised if it applied to other unusual monster cases where they take much less amount of damage than usual (king arthro, cerberus as it loses hp, etc)

yeah tomahawk will work on mobs like slimes/elementals/bones that has a natural dmg resistance. I don't know if tomahawk works in those specific moments where they gain unusual dmg resistance like you mentioned.
