Long story short I hit the crysta button. didn't have to sign up for a C&B or paypal account. So I'm assuming I won't be charged. c_c
They did a real sloppy job on the payment transfer imo. But ever since the merger between Squaresoft and Enix co. the quality and level of the work they produce to me has seemed less than professional.
This post crystallize the very essence of ALL problems we're having with the Final Fantasy franchise in the last few years. Final Fantasy XI has gone down from a beautiful, well polished game to a inefficient blob of code, out of laziness from the people who currently manage it.
Probably the programmers are being told to use shortcuts and save time instead of properly fix any issue that is found.
The billing system is no exception. Down with Click and Buy. -_-;

So apparently.. the day after C&B billed me for my services.. someone tries to steal my card number but didn't have my pin .. The woman at my bank says some company (she wont tell me for some reason.. kinda pisses me off) tried to charge 20$ to my card number which thankfully my bank canceled it (and now my card too but meh)
Nothing else was used on my card before this except C&B so who knows.. but I do know I'm canceling CB and buying crysta using the other method.
^^ same thing happen to myself. bank ended up holding all out going funds and stoped all payment to SE. so got to redo all 7 accounts >_>:

As for the region specific thing, it's entirely up to you whether you feel the increase is worth it. I believe NA POL accounts had to be linked with NA SE accounts, though?
As of the announcement of the new payment system, they supposedly allow you to link a POL ID of any region to an SE ID of any region, which will convert the FFXI account to the region of the SE ID. They also allowed a one-time region change for NA and EU SE IDs within the first year of having the new account system released, which would convert the account, so a bunch of EU importers could switch to being able to buy expansions locally.
However, JP POL IDs seem to get a "Server Busy, try again later" error if you try to link to a non-JP SE ID, ever since the guy that wrote the English guide on how to use WebMoney with FFXI said he linked his JP POL ID to his EU SE ID. Those of us that linked before the announcement were forced to link to accounts of the same region, and JP SE IDs have never been offered a region change.

Oooh, more ClickNBuy shenanigans: Made 3x calls to C&B's 800 number - guess what? 3x charges of $47 each just now received. Refuting & investigation underway.
Yay! SE with another ftw reason to stay with SE.

This is why I hate ClickandBuy. As soon as I signed up with them, they put a block on my account, saying my card was a fraud. So I sent them an email asking for assistance in removing the block so I could pay for FFXI, and this was their email back.
Quote: Thank you for contacting ClickandBuy and for your message.
Due to security reasons please provide us with a scanned copy (in colour and a copy of the front and the backside) of your driver's license and a copy of your utility bill so that we can verify and activate your account.
Please note that we do not accept online statements for the verification of a payment method.
Please send the documents via email to service@us.clickandbuy.com.
Please make sure the documents are legible and in a jpg or pdf format and that attachments do not exceed 1 MB per email.
Please select answer or reply when responding to this email as opposed to sending a new email as this will aid us in resolving your issue with more efficiency.
Yours sincerely,
ClickandBuy Service Team
I'm not sending them anything of mine. I'd much rather go through Crysta.

I was gonna go with Crysta but it won't let me buy it without going through C&B... Dammit SE, what was so broken about the old system that this kind of ***was even REMOTELY necessary... Hopefully the planned alterations they announced for the fall will let us just use the old WORKING system again.
Now if I could just get this POL-0033 error garbage handled so I can actually play the game I'm paying for.
EDIT: Also, anyone else noticed the 2 most recent news lists on POL are about C&B needing maintenance? I mean, really?

FFXI people don't like change. That's all it is. They complain about any change made in this game and then they forget about it 3 months later.
I say just ignore it and no one will talk about it soon enough.

I tried using it before C&B, and it won't lemme use my bankcard (which is how i usually pay for FFXI) probably for the same reason it won't work for PSN. I do alot of online purchases with my bankcard, but rarely is it ever this much of a headache just to get anything processed.

i got ultimatepay to work without issue pretty much, so, worst case scenario, go out and get one of those card things from 7-11, boom, problem solved

I just want to point out the error in this post with an analogy: (Directed towards the original poster).
I give you a loaf of fresh bread.
For 3 years I give you a loaf of fresh bread.
Out of nowhere I decide to give you stale bread because its more cost efficient for me.
When you come and complain to me about the bread being stale I say:
"Not my problem, Deal with it."
I'm the only supplier in your area for bread.
Unless you want to pay the same for a lesser quality bread or have a lesser quality bread all together. You pretty much have to stick with me giving you the shaft.
So yes *** people, change is always good, people are always bad.
Every decision to change something is always right and those who complain about it are always wrong.
People who voice their opinions are ignorant and should just do what major companies tell them to, shut up and give them all your money.
This is the logic I'm seeing from you, it seems like bad logic. You probably wouldn't make a good business person.

Your account has been temporarily blocked by ClickandBuy. To unblock your account please contact the ClickandBuy customer service team at service@us.clickandbuy.com or call us at 1-877-265-7821.
"This number has been changed or disconnected..." yada yada!
Last month I paid near $45 for 2 account for both my son and I which inc. buying him the expansion pack and key. I am not sure A. How our account are "blocked" after we paid for "30 days of service." on Aug, 11th 2011. B. there is nothing wrong with my bank. What the hell is going on here. What kind of a business has an out of order number? Man I am pissed right now @ SE and this stupid click and buy crap!

I called SE today. They informed me this is basically happening to everyone and click and buy has not been doing very well, then asked "Have you tried Crysta?" Which I had not, logged into my account and paid for Crysta for both mine and my sons accounts. It was simple and easy and only took about 2 mins to buy and apply to accounts. My only complaint was spending $20 US when I do not need to have $20 in Crysta for the accounts. However, the SE rep says that in the near future you will be able to purchase Crysta in any amount you need. /Cheer Crysta.../FAIL! ClickandBuy!

So I called and found out why they locked my account. When I tried to setup my friends acctoun to pay for her FFXI account, I used the same card info that I used for my account. This was before I knew you could pay for 2 FFXI accts with 1 C&B acct.
So now I need to close her acct to get mine unlocked.
And apparently, either way, you have to call them to do anything, ANYTHING at all with your account. You cant just do it all online.

I have a question for all of you. I lost my credit card, so I ordered a new credit card and mycharacters were consequently deactivated. Since then I have submitted a new credit card to click and buy and tried reactivating my characters, but I get the following error message:
An error has occurred.
Please confirm the status of any relevant options and then try again.
For details, please contact the Square Enix Support Center.
(Error code: 105)
Can anyone help me with this? I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Thank you,

Well, SE JP support has responded saying I'm still in queue for the superiors to respond, after 7-8 weeks. It seems they won't let me change region like the guy that wrote the FFXI-Europe guide did to his JP account. So instead of taking slightly less money per month from me (in equivalent currency) so I can use local payment methods, they're getting no money from me each month. Now my ISP is offering to double my internet connection speed for about what FFXI has been costing me per month, and I'm tempted to spend the money there instead. They need to get their act in gear faster, or I'll find someone that actually wants to take the money I have to spend.
They used to take my VISA directly, and they should do so again. Either allow non-JP cards to pay for JP accounts, or allow a region change for all accounts, not just NA and EU ones.

I've had no problem with Click and Buy. To be completely honest? I'm glad! I didn't have a 3-D Secured debit card when they implemented it, so I had to quit for over two years. You know what kind of frustration goes along with that? I'm glad to be back, poo poo to the naysayers.
Not trying to troll or create a sh*tstorm. Just wanted to get some information.
I have been vaguely reading about peoples' problems/responses to the new payment system for FFXI. Like all good sheeple, I just went and created a Clickandbuy account and transferred everything over. I feel like I am missing something though; am I going to get extra charges for using Clickandbuy? I have heard people talk about using PayPal (which I would prefer) but did not see the option when I transferred over. I'm also having issues getting my second character account onto my SE account.
So I guess any additional info would be helpful, but my main question is, am I going to receive extra fees for dealing with clickandbuy? :(
