So I haven't really played in about 2 years. Only started again like a month or two ago.

Before the cap was raised I was using skill, chr/debuff, mnd, haste setups.

Now I see a lot of people saying chr/debuff sets aren't needed/necessary anymore.

What do I actually need now?
I gathered;
Song casting - set
Haste -
And what else? Confused now lol.

MACC/skill for any enfeebs you're using, although I've never had issues landing Lullaby on EXP mobs, Finale on NMs is never really resistant either unless it's specifically resistant to that particular spell. Elegy is the same.

Song casting-
Haste
Song effect (Eg. full AF3+2 or random pieces with ballad +)
Debuff set if you want to be super sure (I don't bother seeing as I've got capped skill)
Cure potency (it's like 3 pieces)
DD set I guess.

I also use HMP and song duration / recast

But don't feel pressured into doing it.

Capping skill and having relevant instruments is the most important thing you can do.

Pretty much this. Toss in an idle set and you're good to go. You don't need much on BRD these days.

So if you have capped skill now you don't actually need a debuff set unless you wanted to be totally sure?

What kinda things would you add into a idle set? Never really understood the things you could use in that. /noob <

Pretty much. I can hit debuffs naked with capped skill and an instrument.

And yeah, PDT, MDT, Refresh, Regen and movement speed

This. If your computer kinda sucks can put fastcast gear here too.

Sorry for double post. Would any consider this a decent idle set or have I gone way overboard or even worse is it absolutely terrible?

For an 'Idle' set that looks more like a weird PDT/MDT set, unsure as you have an MDT ring and Jelly ring with -MDT on. \0.0/

Surely you'd be better off with Refresh pieces no? Save those MDT/PDT pieces for individual macros.

Judging by his profile, he's brokeish (In regards to the subligar/Marduk Jubbah) Should try working on refresh hairpin hands/feet for sure though. If all else fails find someone to buy everything for you for little or no reason! That seems to work for some people. :<

Generally, I idle in Refresh gear on bard, MP earrings/neck/rings etc then if It can't get refresh/regen etc I put PDT there. But I'm somewhat of an aggressive bard. :<

Dark Rings from Konschtat as well if you're working on Refresh Pin already.

What rings are people using now for BRD?
If skill+ isn't a big issue now, nereid isn't needed. and CHR+ isn't needed either. What would you use?

MP

Nereids for Debuff

personally.

Oh and Minstrels for precast.

Other than that, there are no good rings.

Unimportant with Atma and PDT should be built into the standard set.

The majority is yeah. And if you're really desperate for MP it's not hard to Tenuto Ballads on yourself.

An idle set can quite happily sit in partial refresh and DT- gear. You hardly need a specific set for either. I doubt there's even enough relevant gear to justify it.
