I've seen quite a few people who spank their kids and quite a few who don't, including friends and family. the ones who are spanked are much more well behaved in most cases
not every child can be simply "told" that something is wrong, some maybe, but from what I've seen that's the minority. Children push boundaries, if it doesn't garner a displeasing consequence, they will continue to do so until they develop higher reasoning skills (pre-teen)
This is why children that get spanked often behave better when very young (2-10)

I have a beautiful 7 yr old daughter. Even though she may be naughty on occasion, I believe that spankings are for parents that are neither creative in their punishments nor empathetic. It's our duties as parents to gain respect from our children and to do so creatively.

Were you not raised to respect your elders? Do you know why we are taught this? Because the people older than us have a) been around longer hence, b) have gone through more struggles and c)learned a few things along the way. It should be a privilege to be in their presence and have the opportunity to learn from them, instead of the hard way (through trial and error)

I demonized them because they are or are in support of abusing children, not because their opinion is different. Popular sure doesn't mean right. I am not exaggerating, violence on a child is abuse, spanking is violence. No I am not and it is irrelevant.
