something I've noticed that kindof bothers me is that if I look at some of my friend's profiles, I've seen posts like "good to see you :D" get rated down to like -17, and they're way at the bottom because of it. My suggestion is adding a feature where if it's on your profile page, you can choose to set a post's rating permanently to 0 or something.
To illistrate that, say that person X posts "you're a great friend" on person Y's page. Then, a bunch of people rate person X's post to like -20. My suggestion would be to let person Y have the power to rate person X's post back to 0, because person Y likes the post, and it's their own page.
When I read this it still sounds confusing >< but hopefully you know what I mean

You want to give people the option to make it so people can't rate up or down comments on people's profiles.
not complicated. I'm pro this. Yeah, I'd go for that, too. Apparently the bulk of people can't handle a rating system, since pretty much everything gets a crap rating, comments and pictures.
I'ma fourth this, I have a comment on every one of my characters advertising the crafts that I have leveled so that I can promote my business, I continually see these get rated down (I used to have a message about it in the comment also, which is why it happened, more likely than not) and it makes me wonder why we can't control our own pages.
This does pose another issue tho. Our characters are given a page to show our AH transactions, but are they ours (in the sense of a facebook page, for instance) or just a page where our information shows up (like a personals page but doesn't really belong to us). If the ffxiah team can comment, would be tasty. Go Jaerik, his posts kill me with roflmao. So If I spam BACON at the bottom of my comment I'd get rated up? Its a very high probability... on a positive note, my own comment went up one, so people are paying attention!

But, if I find something funny, I will rate it up, no matter who it came from. i don't rate ppl down, i dont rate ppl at all, unless i see something i like, then i Rate +1 & 1 1/2 (im magic!I get + 1/2 added to my rate up skill o.o )

This is why I'm glad the forum system doesn't have any rating system for users or individual posts.
Gets abused to a lesser extent on some item pages to. Anyway, since we can already delete post on our user page, we may as well be able to both lock a posts score and reset a posts score to zero as well. /agree
I only rate down if I disagree with something, or it just deserves it. I'm for it. Remove public ratings, and optionally let us either remove the comments from out own profiles, or delete them altogether. Simpler yet, only let people rate up comments on user pages.
I like this idea. My friend completed her Morrigan's Robe and I left her a comment congratulating her. The next day it was bombed to -5 for no apparent reason. Some people just like dragging others down I guess.
So...after this thread...how many people went and rated down Leesil's friends, and their posts? <_<
