»So your saying to just get up to the number fast and end it? What about the pressure and impurity?
Basically, yes. You want to align it +/- 0 and end it. Basically get a 'perfect alignment' reading on the furnace
Not saying this is fully incorrect...but is not how I understand it. As far as I can see the higher the pressure seems to deplete the furnace's hp faster. I do synergy with cooking also and the higher the impurity...the less I HQ, so I assume it is the same with augments.
My standard strat. with augmenting is as follows: get the readings as close to perfect as possible, take out all impurities, then end it. I've gotten some darn good augments on my items...but in the end, the type of augments you get is fully based on luck. Only exception is getting 1 augment versus 2 augment or 3, that is based on if you HQ or not.
Please correct me if I am wrong. ^^

Oh and here are some of augments on my own gear I did (included the jobs I intend to use the item on):
Kirin's Pole (all mage jobs): dmg +25, atk +5, enhancing magic skill +11
Seiryu's Kote (nin): Store TP +3, crit hit rate +3, mag. evasion +1
Hecatomb Subligar +1 (thf, brd): atk +4, subtle blow +2, crit hit rate +3
Hecatomb Leggings +1 (drg, brd): str +3, atk +5, polearm skill +3
