Quick question about IV's. Do they only get passed down from the parent? Or does each generation get IV level up the more it mates?

I have a def, sp A, spd gastly male. But I also have a hp and sp def female thats stats are decent. Is it worth mating them?

You have to have the appropriate items attached to the parent to pass IVs from one generation to the next.

Power Items are like 99% guaranteed to pass IVs, but you can only use 1 or 2 at a time (1 item per parent).

The item you really want is a Destiny Knot. That passes up to 5 IVs to the next generation. Only issue it, a Power Item and a Destiny Knot doesn't mix, so when you get that magical 5/6 IV parent, you have to try to get another 5/6 IV parent of the opposite gender with different 5/6 IVs to maximize your chances for that elusive 6/6 kid.

That's why it is a good idea to also Nature breed at the same time.

For example, I have a male Adamant 5/6 Honedge, with HP being the odd stat out. I have a female 5/6 Hasty Honedge, with Sp.Def being the odd stat out. The male has the Everstone and the female has the Destiny Knot, so when I get that magical 6/6 Honedge, it will also have Adamant nature too.

Im using the knot and stone. Have timid nature on all of my gastly. I guess my main questions is if the Judge mentions the best stats of a pokemon, does that mean they are 31? Or does what he says after he says their best stats determine if said stats are 31 or not?

If it is a single stat that isn't also "couldn't be better," then that stat is your best stat, but it isn't 31.

Almost all the time if you have multiple stats that "couldn't be better," then that is 31 IV in each stat.

Always look for the "couldn't be better."

(mind you, if you have a single stat that is "couldn't be better", use this to determine if you have a 31 or 30 stat)

Destiny Knot doesn't pass * up to * five IVs, it always ensures that exactly 5 IVs are passed. You *can* combine with a power item, but you still only pass 5 IVS,

What are the tiers of iv rating from the iv npc? He just saidy poke has fantastic stats all around.
I remember in b2 it was like average, above average, etc
