Jet, how hard would it be to get windows 7 on this laptop instead of this dumbass 8 crap? Like jsut buy the 7 cds? Is it cds? I should stop talking...
if you don't want any data?
get a copy of the windows 7 dvd.
I go Pro edition personally, you'd probably get away with using home.
Technically a oem version will work, but to be 100% in compliance you should buy the retail version.
that being said: how old is it?
and there's only 1 thing I can think of that has to do with 8 that can be a pain, but formatting it should take care of it.
there's a new thing that replaces the MBR, which is kind of pointless for most people, at the most you'd have to reformat the drive to have an MBR instead of the new thing, the name escapes me at the moment.
best case scenario once you have the disc: 15-30 minutes
worst case: 2 hoursish depending on if you can download hirensbootcd as I'm assuming you don't otherwise have a toolkit.
now as to the "how old is it" part, if you could still technically take it back to the store, you could probably go back and be like "***, give me windows 7, 8 sucks ***."
The laptop is new, only a couple months old. My brother bought it for me for xmas online someplace. It's nothing amazing, I just can't stand 8. Assuming no data just means I'd have to DL anything I've put on here again?

Just so you don't have to do it again, I would copy over your Windower files over to another hard drive and reinstall them later.
I had to do that when my lappy harddrive went capoot, managed to get that folder and other goodies (porn) off it, got new hard drive, installed windows again, then put on the backed up data I wanted to save back on. That way I didn't have to rehunt all the stuff all over again. I am Windowers illiterate >_<

ah, and yeah the only way is to wipe 8 off entirely and install 7 from scratch, it's really a quick process once you get it wiped.
the full retail of home premium is $199, the full Pro is $289 on newegg.
you can get the OEM version (which would work, but not entirely licensed properly) for $99 or $139 respectively.
technically the OEM version is for somebody who just assembled some hardware.
or if you want to be a super "joo" you can get the disc from somebody and use an activator instead of buying a code, morally you may be in the clear (up to you) since 8 is garbage, but legally it's not, unfortunately.

awesome sauce, thanks! I'm sure my dad's office has some cds around somewhere. lolpaying
oh and the cool thing is: 7 (i'm sure 8 does as well, but never looked) has a built in backup feature, so if you have a dvd burner once you get it installed/configured you can make a backup and bam.
if you do something like browse porn and catch something nasty, you can just pop the disc in and restore back to that point.

ftfy
and yeah :P
the only real issue is getting the drivers in the end, I'd look on the manufacturer's website before you get started and see if they have 7 drivers (I'd hope so).
If my ls event starts in 35min, can I get a quick nap in?
I would say no but I'm a hard *** for showing up to events early/on-time even when I know when a linkshell event is posted and says "Event starts at 7pm" what it really means in the end is "Gather is 7pm, we won't start until 8:30pm because nobody knows what it means when we stay starts at 7. and when we finally get everyone there we need to go over the easy strategy about 50 times so everyone gets it."

remind me to ask you about this feature then!
ask me about this feature.
one of the reasons I like the "Pro" version is that it lets me backup to a network location, handy if you have NAS or a fileserver.

The pc is like 4 years old so our porn browsing happens on there lol If anything is gonna get computer aids, rather it not be the new thing.
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
