Who declaws a cat ~.~
I didn't remember to get groceries yesterday, so i don't have anything at home nao

I remember one of my dad's ex's as a kid
had a declawed cat and it would slap you if you come near him =o

mine was cause the pound we got her from did it already , and d'aw not even ramen? o.o

I declawed mine! I don't want my furniture *** up. Also, he's fat, lazy and hates being outside anyway. I wonder if it's because he's neutered?

My friend who used to live down the street had one of their cats declawed. She was supposed to be the inside cat, but she kept pooping on their couch, so they made her be an outside cat while being declawed. She got along just fine, until one day the neighbor dogs bowled their owner over and caught her. She could not climb the tree she was so desperately trying to climb. ,_,; Sadness.

I think declawing a cat is cruel. I'm not even sure if it's allowed here in Germany :S
My cat will sometimes give me a slap when he's in play or *** mood, but he never uses his claws for it..

my cats arent declawed, we used to trim their nails, but havent been recently, theyre generally nice, though they can get too playful sometimes

don't think many ppl declaw them anyways, also she liked to sleep in shoe boxes and the dryer

It's because it's not them removing just the claws. The process actually involves them removing the whole tips of the paws. Imagine having the tops (from the joint up) of you fingers chopped off. :/ That's what they do to the cat.

I dunno the process behind de-clawing a cat, so I can't speak on it in that sense.. But if it's an only pet, and an inside one, I don't really see that as inhumane.. If it's an outside cat, or there are other pets that might pick a fight with it, I'd be more inclined to agree than disagree, but it just really depends on the situation..

As for their biting.. It's far from lol, when they lay on their back and invite you to rub their tummy then do that "death claw grapple and gnaw the hell out of you" thing, I'm more aggravated by the teeth than the claws... They have some strong jaws and sharp teeth, especially if they get a finger towards the back of their mouth.. The claws just kinda rip the top layer of skin..

HOWEVER.. And this is where my own experience/bias comes in.. When I was 5, I was attacked by a particularly mean cat (this cat literally chased my friends like a pit bull, if it got you, it would attack, people think cats are ***, but this one was just pure evil/mean) it tore me up so bad I nearly bled to death on the way to the hospital, the doctors didn't have time to administer anesthesia either, so I had to be stitched up, literally like a rag doll, right then and there.

If for no other reason than preventing what happened to me, I lean towards all cats having to be de-clawed when you have, or are going to have children around. I'll admit my case is pretty rare, and that it's far from the norm, but it's also not unheard of.

I'm more afraid of claws then teeth.

Bites would just hurt and be over with, scratches for me always persisted and sometimes get infected.

That's something else I've never understood.. People talking about infections.. Am I just some freak of nature that like never gets an infected cut/puncture? I mean in a general sense, not cat inflicted injuries.. I've recently had an ear infection, but I cut myself all the time, I'm extremely clumsy.. I'm yet to really get an infection.. I only actually 'treat' the deeper ones (stuff that actually goes into muscle, or exposes bone, or goes all the way through my hand for instance) the rest I just wrap in a shirt until it stops bleeding, or if I'm cooking, put a band-aid on it and move on.

Meh.

Just letting things get to me more than I should.
