House got robbed today.
Very angry and bitter.
Considering one of these...



Though come to think of it. Knives scare me, and I would probably be very uncomfortable using one even in a self-defense or home-protection scenario. I much prefer blunt weapons. Perhaps a crowbar or baseball bat would be more ideal.

Houses don't get robbed, people do. Houses get burglarized. I know it doesn't ease your pain, but my wife is a criminologist. That's one of her biggest pet peeves and it burned it's way into my skull.

Guns work better than knives though.

All the home security you need. Obviously this is meant more for a single person's home.. Not sure how good of an idea it would be to have a Pitbull and kids together, much less a gun.. Unless you keep the gun ready to go (magazine filled so you can just pop it in, shells in the shot gun so all you have to do is chamber a round) there's no real point in having one anyways.

Shotgun may *** some stuff up in your house, but hey, at least you'd nail the *** that broke in along with your ***.

Sorry to hear that Artemcion. :/ Sadly if you are a renter or live in an apartment complex, most likely it was a neighbor or someone living close-by...especially if they happened to time it for when you weren't home.

When I was in college my apartment got broken into when I went back home (to the parents') for the weekend. A few days before, a neighbor had come by asking to use my phone...he didn't talk on it long and was looking around everywhere and probably used the opportunity to scope the place out. :/ Of course I had nothing more to go on than that when I talked to the police, but it seemed the most likely situation.

Sadly, because I didn't write down all the serial numbers to all the electronic items that were stolen, the police said there wasn't much that could be done about it. Oh well...live and learn--lock up tight, bar the windows...and graduate from college and live in a better neighborhood. :/

It sounds like at least you didn't lose your computer in all of that, though? :/

I can't imagine using such a term in any scenario of conversation.

Also I wouldn't dare bother getting, let alone using a gun even if only for intimidation. I can't stand them nor the complex that comes with em.
I've considered a dog, but I already have the responsibility of taking care of my cat, and I can only imagine the issues that would arise from having them in the same household.


And the worst part was yes, I was at home at the time. Sound asleep unfortunately since I stay up late and sleep in til noon. They must have done this in the time frame I was asleep.

That is true, but it depends on the shot you're using.. I mean if you use Double 00 buck shot (or of course something even bigger or even slugs) it's very likely going through a wall.. 00 buck is nearly the same diameter as a 9mm round (8.4mm) that easily go through walls. You can fill the first shell with rock salt, as the warning shot to GTFO, it almost certainly wouldn't be lethal, but it would hurt like a son of a *** at close range. The sound a shotgun makes is very distinctive, not just from the gun powder, but the sound all the projectiles make hitting everything. So that first shot would be enough to scare away most anyone, and if not, that's why you have a few shells of bird shot right behind it. You'd want to make sure you're using low velocity shells. It will lesson the chances of wall penetration, regular shells are meant for hunting, and are designed to just outright kill the animal in one shot. The lower power would also help reduce the recoil and allow for faster chambering/repeated fire.

Also if spread is what you're after, you want a short barrel, the shorter the barrel, the wider and faster the shot spreads out. Not to mention if you're in close quarters you don't want him to be able to latch onto the barrel, if he's close enough to grab a short barrel, crack him in the face with the butt.

My random thought: Why do I have to be such a packrat, in FF and in real life? For example, I have 32 pop items for NMs in all Abyssea areas. Most of the NMs I haven't popped in months, but I still hold onto the pop items just in case. I did at least manage to mule 22 of the items for the areas I haven't been going to, so that's a start.

I really can't wait for the next update so I can send seals to a mule or two. At the moment, seals and Emp. upgrade items are taking about 28 spaces. Packrat and all.
