Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?

On the bright side, my pallet has been growing as of late. More and more rum and I am starting to be able to tell subtle differences between them all.
My current fix right now is Cruzan Black Strap, but Gosling's Black Seal is a close contender.
I envy that. I can only imagine how much more amazing the foods I already like would be with a more subtle and acute sense of taste. Sadly, food for the most part is just food, so eating has become more of a simple task, than one conducive to appreciating the symphony of flavors that accompany great food.

I have always loved food. I grew up with a mother/grandmother/great grandmother who all knew how to cook.
Southern cooking is a world all of its own.
Edit: Have decided on chicken fried steak and scalloped potatoes for dinner on Sunday now... om nom noms. Would make mashed potatoes, but no real potatoes and only boxed, they are still good though.

I on the other hand envy you. If I didn't care how things taste, I'd just eat whatever is healthy and never have to worry about craving certain foods. But I suppose I'd miss it after a while. There's nothing better on a summer's day than a brat with a beer.

Yeah, I mean I can appreciate good food of course, but I think with a more keen sense of taste I would actually sit down, and take my sweet time, chewing and enjoying each and every bite and even analyzing the flavors of each ingredient therein.

Read: Chopped bacon is a must add-on. However, that would likely overpower the point of having pulled pork being the medium of the dish. Perhaps, pulled beef or chicken would be an acceptable substitute?

Ham or shanks are always good.
Plop either in a crock pot, some water, small onion, couple of cloves of garlic, maybe a chopped carrot or two if you like that, salt/pepper of course, and some uncooked bacon. Let it cook for 4~6 hours. Shred it, add your favorite BBQ sauce and let the noms commence.

If you're up for cooking a brisket that is always good, and chicken is super easy.

RumpBostom Butt works well too, that's what is traditionally used for pulled pork... should probably mention that lol.
Can also do it with ribs/roast meat... but I prefer my ribs as ribs.
<.<; Just looked it up... Boston Butt is actually from the shoulder not from the rump, did not know that.
