Do you have ADD, or are you just trying to force yourself to do something you don't like?

According to professionals, both.

I don't consider "ADD" along with several other diagnostic acronyms to be 100% real, as they like to claim though.

don't really want to get into that right now though, have less than an hour and I have to go to work.

I had a teacher once in high school who had some sort of disorder. The one day she was without meds was a very ugly day. A sinister day. >_>

There's so much people self-definying imaginary psychological conditions that they don't really have...it's somewhat irksome at times.

Random thought related to Jet's disbelief that may or may not be connected.

My belief is that everyone has a little bit of ADD just they're not aware of it.

my elementary school teachers thought I had ADD because i would daydream during class/fall asleep/take scraps of paper and fold them in such a way to where they look like little trucks and tanks then i would draw a battlefield on a piece of paper and simulate a little battle. all awhile sitting at the front of the class right next to the teacher o-o

I've been diagnosed with it, along with ocd, I just am skeptic.

I don't see how when a smart child is in a class with dumb people, being taught at there level, being bored is somehow supposed to be a bad thing, or a "disorder" it's like it's a crusade against people evolving or something.

I was diagnosed with ADD at a young age, and I just tried to fight it, but it's just a waste of time to knowingly handicap myself.

In a world where there's actual medicine for "Restless Leg Syndrome". I'm with you on this one. We over diagnose and medicate everything.

I sometimes wonder I have ADD or something similar... I generally have a hard time learning anything from reading or watching because my mind bounces around to every corner of the universe. I have to be doing something to learn it or at the very least have my hands kept buisy.

Probably should be on anti depressents or something given how much effort I have to put into being happy but relying on pills for that scares me XD

If you understood the cause of Restless Leg Syndrome, you would understand why it's treatable. Everyone wants to throw around their opinions, but I'm not seeing any medical degrees.

Um RLS is a real thing, I've experienced it several times.

It's annoying as ***.

Side effect from the severe caffeine intake I endure.

but there's other factors for it, but I'm pretty sure that's my trigger, considering the days I've had it, I've been doped on so much caffeine I'm surprised I was able to sleep at all.

I wouldn't say we always over diagnose, but we overtreat for sure, even if I do have some form of ADD/OCD etc, I'd rather deal with it on my own than require medication to do it for me, I tried explaining this to a friend once and he pretty much responded "no *** you ***" (he has issues), I don't like being dependent upon medication on a daily basis. Now caffeine: while I drink it daily, and go through withdrawal without it, I don't need it to function, just a several hour long nap and some Tylenol. Caffeine is just easier :P

It's more like it exists but there are varying levels of the condition... and like most things while some need the meds/attention there are others who just have a slight issue and get the meds thrown at them...

Ehh just because something is treatable doesn't meen we should rush to treat it... Sometimes its just not worth it or working through it on our own is what makes us stronger.

I think it's more of an issue of cause rather than severity. Some of the treatments won't have any affect on certain causes. I didn't know so many people detested pills.

I simply think there's far too much emphasis put on pharmaceutics than simply letting the body do what it was meant to do for even the most menial of things. We call things a disorder or syndrome, when in reality much of it (even if only in part) is simply being human.

What you said makes no sense. Let's not treat a problem because it's a normal thing to have.

I was just generally speaking cause there's a lot of people that just goes "oh yeah I have this bad form of <insert a disorder looked up on wikipedia> and I need meds!" or that say they have depression when they're just sad or bored. Maybe it's childish of me to care, but I find it a bit irritating.

I didn't say it shouldn't be treated, I simply think there are more viable and natural solutions than labeling it as a medical condition and conjuring up drugs to fix it, and in turn create another one.

Well, since you seem well versed in the subject, how do you naturally treat ADD/ADHD?

Well, from what I've seen of you so far, you seem to ignore your own issues, so it's not surprising that you don't want to believe other people have issues.

I'm not versed in the subject, it's merely an opinion as you noted earlier. It's just annoying to see relatively normal things in people, and immediately jumping to the conclusion that it's some sort of awful condition or disorder and requires drugs; which in some cases I'm sure would merely exchange one problem for another.

I'm far from ignoring them. I don't speak of them on here.

Why would that be needed to validate an opinion? I can't help but think you're overthinking or overanalyzing this.
