Completed Mass Effect 3 yay! What were your thoughts on the ending? I thought it needed some more closure in terms of the characters but aside from that I was ok with it. I'm glad they didn't give a cut and dry "This is the good ending, This is the bad ending" like most rpgs do. I only ask due to the ammount of rage that ending has stirred up XD I actually really enjoyed the ending to the game itself, the deep philosophical and ethical themes about man and machine and how synthetics and AI will inevitably wipe out organic life FOREVER really REALLY made me stop and go 'you know what, that's absolutely right'. It made me think about the purpose of the reapers and I was almost in favour of the 'cycle'. In the short amount of time you actually get to make a decision, I chose the third option of sacrificing Shepard to create the 'final stage of evolution' as the catalyst put it, to have organics and synthetics become one being. An incredibly clever and well thought out climax.
I agree with you though, I mean the closing cinematic wasn't terrible, but to see members of my crew waltzing off the Normandy when they were just mowed down by the reaper as I was running for the beam made me a little dissapointed. Still, I'm not sure why so many complained about the ending, I thought it was very clever. Narshee don't open this ***. Or anyone else who hasn't played the mass effect trilogy. I took the second option with Shepard becoming the control program for the reapers or however that was working out... I figured after all the ***I gave the Quarians about the geth I couldn't just go and distory all synthetic life. That and when I learned EDI counted a hacking attempt by hacking them back and spamming their servers with all the pron in the galaxy she became my idol so wasn't going to happen. The hybrid option was tempting but my shepard had always argued that sythetics and organics could get along dispite their differences so she kept to that faith.
The main problem people seem to have is that it is possible that the ending sends the galexy into a dark age with no meens of intersteller travel. It is a possiblity since the Mass Relays were the only meens of travel (the cores used in their ships need to be discharged into a planet's atmosphere regularly) but I see it more as destroying the relay in ME2. In ME1 + the 2 books they were established as being indistructable, ME2 turns around and points out that it's just that no one has ever actually tried. The reapers were capable of travel with out, all the greatest minds in the galaxy are gathered and there is plenty of oppertunity to salvage the technology with the ammount of dead reapers.
Anyways I'll stop rambling Yeh that was my thoughts exactly, I didn't save the Geth only to destroy them later. The option to control the Reapers was probably the best one to take tbh, but even then the inevitable rise of synthetics would just lead to further war or the eventual destruction of the reapers. Still, the mission was to destroy the Reapers, which would have brought peace, for the time being but that would doom all life to an eventual extinction via synthetics. To make the choice to change all life to become one with synthetics is the decision or nothing less than a deity (if such a thing exists) but in my eyes was the only way to save life from it's fate of destruction.

What do you know about angler fish? >_______________> This would be another open at your own risk kinda thing... it has to do with reproduction.
Some anglerfishes, like those of the Ceratioid group (Ceratiidae, or sea devils), employ an unusual mating method. Because individuals are presumably locally rare and encounters doubly so, finding a mate is problematic. When scientists first started capturing ceratioid anglerfish, they noticed that all of the specimens were female. These individuals were a few centimetres in size and almost all of them had what appeared to be parasites attached to them. It turned out that these "parasites" were highly reduced male ceratioids. The presence of multiple males breeding with a single female makes this a good example of polyandry.
At birth, male ceratioids are already equipped with extremely well-developed olfactory organs[4] that detect scents in the water. The male ceratioid lives solely to find and mate with a female. They are significantly smaller than a female angler fish, and may have trouble finding food in the deep sea. Furthermore, the growth of the alimentary canals of some males becomes stunted, preventing them from feeding.[4] These features necessitate his quickly finding a female anglerfish to prevent death. The sensitive olfactory organs help the male to detect the pheromones that signal the proximity of a female anglerfish. When he finds a female, he bites into her skin, and releases an enzyme that digests the skin of his mouth and her body, fusing the pair down to the blood-vessel level.[4] The male then slowly atrophies, first losing his digestive organs, then his brain, heart, and eyes, and ends as nothing more than a pair of gonads,[5] which release sperm in response to hormones in the female's bloodstream indicating egg release. This extreme sexual dimorphism ensures that, when the female is ready to spawn, she has a mate immediately available.[6] Multiple males can be incorporated into a single female.
We had a sea creature thread a ways back where someone posted this, can't remember who though.

This isn't all that shocking to me. Other than the part about the woman having multiple males attached to her, this just sounds like a married couple that hasn't had kids yet.

It's okay, I'm only joking. I like the idea of getting married, in my current case anyway. D:

This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
