Typically I would see the advent of Assassin's Creed 3 and it's Revolutionary War tie in as a cheap shot at tugging the heart strings of self-absorbed and overbearingly proud "patriots" of America. But somehow I have a bit of hope in how they can cleverly tie in the past titles' lore into at least some degree of relevance in the Revolutionary War. But I suppose I'll just have to hold my breath.

It'll either be awesome, or a predatory and shameless act of sucking money from those too proud to know they're being duped.

I had high hopes for it before the initial game came out.
But when it turned out to be like a science fiction novel, I pulled an "okay" face and lowered my expectations, but still genuinely enjoyed the concept and timeline of ~1000 AD Jerusalem. Then sure enough the sequel and subsequent releases could be explained best with...



So needless to say, I'm skeptical more than ever now, but still intrigued.

Yeah, I just ignore all the science fictiony stuff and go straight to the crux of the action with the running on the rooftops and the stabbing with the hidden blades and stuff.

So, AC3 does intrigue me. But if they could keep the crap away (like the cliche idiotic characters that Desmond surrounds himself with) and just focus on the assassin himself... that would be fantastic.

The AC series is really like watching a movie that has a really poorly written story but awesome actors and action sequences. You know it's awful, but you can't stop watching.

Dedicate a full fledged non-stop run through and simply rent or get a pre-owned copy of AC games. I wouldn't hold it to much replay value beyond the single player campaign run through. Multiplayer is really only for those that genuinely enjoyed the franchise from the start, and I can't see many extra reasons to play beyond the story aside from easter eggs and eagle eye view collections.

The one saving grace for AC is the gameplay. It is a ton of fun running around on rooftops and doing all those acrobatic moves and climbing walls and stuff. I guess for me it's a bit personal because it feels like they took a page from my original character that I created about 6 years prior (I'm not sullen that they got paid stealing MY idea...) but the interaction makes me feel like I'm playing with the very character I've written about.
