Steam has an offline mode in which most games will work with. As well as my games don't auto-update, they want to but it's a simple option change.

Though I do admit, Steam is annoying as *** sometimes. Hate how it's going to a "let me tell you what your friends are doing 24/7" kind of deal.

You can run steam in offline mode. It simply prevents it from communicating for updates and friend stuff. And steam is fairly lenient for replacing game data for cheats and or mods. You can turn off automatic updates as you wish per game. And unless I'm mistaken, I thought no-CD cracks were mainly in sync with pirated versions of games. I'm fairly hard headed in support with Steam because of the traumatizing nightmare I went through for installing GTA4 several years back. I almost literally face desked because of the hoops I had to jump through just to play a damned single player game. Not to mention it was a horrible port.

Steam let's me bypass most, if not all "register this this this and that to play your single player game!" ***. Just download and play, simple as that.

EA and Origin can kiss my ***. Seriously.

It's a corvette. They're light cars made of mostly fiberglass and plastic for the body. Take the engine and transmission out as well as any parts needed to run more or less and just put it on stationary wheels. Also most of the interior is probably stripped out and you just can't tell by window tint. Beyond that it's most likely just attached to struts that extend into the building.

Having both I personally prefer my 360. PS3 exclusives are prettier I will admit, but the online to me isn't as nice. For indie/arcade games most of those are on both platforms except the occasional exclusive. Exclusive titles are hit and miss for me. Some on one some on the other. PS3 does have free online, but from my experiences it's just not a sounds as XBL. Both systems have pro's and cons really. Typically for me any game with an online option is on Xbox, some single players are too and that's because I'll most likely be in an XBL party with friends discussing said game, but games I know friends wont play I usually get on PS3 because in some cases(not all) it looks a tiny bit better. Also I hate the ps3 controller. It's overly light and just not comfortable in my hand.

Edit: Also HDD is irrelevant on both now since PS3 minimum is like 120 and I think the average xbox with an HDD) is like 250gb(Yeah you can get the PoS 4gb but for the price of buying an HHD you may as well get the one with the 250)

I used to have an Xbox. But then it took an arrow in the... I sold it. Sold it for Star Wars. And honestly... I don't regret it. But, I also only had a 20 gig hard drive on there, and I only used it for FFXI or Netflix. Now, my TV connects to Netflix without a third party device and I'm done with XI. So... it was an expensive paperweight.

I see where you're getting at, and funny enough it's the same thing with my PS3. It's an over glorified Blu-Ray player right now. Exclusive releases are the only games that really take the full potential of how the inner hardware operates, so that means for online capacity and reliability as well as streamlined gameplay and overall performance, xbox wins with most titles assuming they're multi-platform. And with the curret market, what game isn't? Though I generally follow the PC onry unless exclusive rule. Hence steam.

Though many publishers are notorious for coding their games for xbox and making terribad ports to PC, that run like garbage regardless of your hardware specs.
I'm waiting for the next epic game to come out that's Xbox only. Will I regret it? That depends. If Halo is that game, I honestly could care less. Fable's fun, but it gets boring after a while. So beyond that, most games that come out for the Xbox also come out for the PS3. So, it really depends on your tastes. As you said, you've been turned off thanks to the past year's hacking nightmares, and that's understandable. For me... VERY limited space. But yeah, what it truly boils down to is online content, and right now it seems like they would be equal, but again it depends on preferences.

The biggest turn off for the xbox for me is the fact that you have to pay for online. I already bought the damn system and the games, now I have to buy the online? GTFO. Though yes Xbox's online is better than PS3's for the most part. Some PS3 games do have a decent online, but most suck. Also communication is better on the Xbox, but you still have to pay for all that ***.

Having small hands, the PS3 controller just works great for me. The Xbox ones are just a bit too bulky. I can reach everything fine on one but it just doesn't flow for me. I like light controllers as well, I personally rather not hold a brick all the time (exaggeration).

I've been playing online since xbox(the black suitcase with a tripple whopper for a controller xD) and ps2 and the quality of online play has always been so much better on XBL that to me personally it validates the online fee. Not to mention you bypass buying through MS and get a 12 month card for $39 instead of $60 :P 40/12 = $3.33 a month. To me reliability, communication and all around a better experience is worth that much. I mean even if you pay the MS $5 a month it's only the price of like a double quarter pounder meal lol.

Oh, I understand the appeal. But, I never grew up with it, and to me it doesn't really have anything spectacular to keep me interested. I guess I've been spoiled, but I wish they would implement an aim button. I can't explain, but for some reason it seems to help. But yeah... just not my thing.

Halo storyline is great. Multiplayer is meh on the newer ones but I love the story. Halo 4 looks quite promising IMO. Also Fable 4 gets me quite giddy. Other than that the last big exclusive IMO was Gears of War which was good. But I also think everyone who buys a 360 should buy Lost Odyssey because it's a great RPG with great music and it was scored by Uematsu.

Edit: Magnus don't click unless you want to reread that depressing story!

As Mag said, it really just comes down to preferences. I'm not denying xbox has the better overall online capabilities. It's just the principle behind having to pay for that (even though it is cheap on a per month basis) is wrong to me. I'm also not too big on the whole online play for the most part, too many damn 11-14 year olds with high pitched voices that love to mic spam. Only times I play online really is when it's with my best friend and we are doing private rooms/matches.

Oh I do dislike kids on the mic but I just stick in party chat. Which I have to say I love party chat. It's like being in a skype call on xbox regardless of what game everyone is playing(except dark souls lol they say no!)

Oh if you play the game you get like another 30 stories like that. And they're just side stories of the characters past.

Lemme see if I can find some other good ones.

That music video was awesome. It was ridiculously grandiose and classy, but not in a stupid or alienating way like Lady Gaga does. Not to mention the music was pretty neat and easy on the ears for the most part. But the video was just really cool. Thanks for sharin that Chuuu ;o
