It's interesting because the wrists are one of the hardest areas to strengthen with weightlifting as you can't really focus on them safely so you have to let grip strength/stress do it for you. Sounds like violin would be a great way to workout the wrists.

Ha.. Ha.. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.. It takes like 6 hours of gaming on a controller non stop to produce the cramps Violin gave me in an hour or less.. Controllers and keyboards are designed to be more natural, there's little natural about holding and playing a violin. Go to a music store and ask them to show you how to hold one, and then picture that pose for a couple hours straight more or less..

26,847 keystrokes last night during my Dragonsoul raid. Global cooldown capped so I end up hitting keys 5 times a second.

Yes, I run a keylog parser. I still can't match the Koreans..

My hands have very good endurance. Just sayin'
It's in the wrists, and I'm just sayin'.
Instructors love to harp about posture.
But if you're just learning to play for enjoyment and don't plan to perform posture can go to hell.
True, but, it still takes a toll (perfect posture or not) but then I guess any hobby would.

I had to quit, my arms simply weren't designed to deal with that kinda torture..
Oh no doubt but if you didn't have an instructor breathing down your throat to have perfect posture 24/7 you could play and be more relaxed thus limiting that.

I used to play the violin all the time :| I used to have to be on it for like 4-5hrs at a time and didn't have a problem with wearing myself out :/

I don't think it could be any worse than lacrosse.
When I first started my wrist would burn from cradling the stick while running after a couple hours of practice....but if you don't know about lacrosse I'm speaking jibberish.

You actually want weaker more nimble wrists/arms, the cramps I mentioned were because I don't have that, My muscles would form some kinda short term muscle memory and moving it out of that exact position hurt.. Kinda like a charlie horse, but a charlie horse isn't really about moving muscle memory.. It just happens on it's own. I actually liked playing, but it just hurt me too bad to continue. I originally wanted to do bass or cello, but they were too expensive, I chose violin simply based on price.. Probably wasn't the best thing to do.

Theres an adult league up in ATL I want to go play in.
Haven't played since I was 18 and played in the Hawaii Invitational, Was an amazing tourney. I played for the college level team repping Hawaii and played JP colleges. Also played one senior game against Wimmer Solutions(MP was on that team and I got molested by him when I was on long pole xD). Championship game was Crease Monkeys v Wimmer. Both teams were nothing but pro's. Was epic to watch, I wanna fly out and play again for Hawaii but can't afford to now.

Slip, now that you've explained it in detail I can see the problem I would have. Tall, long arms, do a lot of weightlifting. My body type is like the exact opposite of a violinist.

I'd still be interested in giving it a try though. If anything I'd just go back to playing the piano.

I didn't mean to discourage you or anything, but I played it, for quite awhile, and it's just one of the most uncomfortable instruments I can even fathom. I mean when I first picked it up, I figured it'd just be like a short guitar I held on my shoulder and played with a bow.. How wrong I was.
