It's interesting because the wrists are one of the hardest areas to strengthen with weightlifting as you can't really focus on them safely so you have to let grip strength/stress do it for you. Sounds like violin would be a great way to workout the wrists.

I used to play the violin all the time :| I used to have to be on it for like 4-5hrs at a time and didn't have a problem with wearing myself out :/

When I first started my wrist would burn from cradling the stick while running after a couple hours of practice....but if you don't know about lacrosse I'm speaking jibberish. I used to play Lacrosse! Beat the hell out of football. Sadly when I ragequit that school I was no longer playing.

Slip, now that you've explained it in detail I can see the problem I would have. Tall, long arms, do a lot of weightlifting. My body type is like the exact opposite of a violinist.
 I'd still be interested in giving it a try though. If anything I'd just go back to playing the piano.
