Yikes. My PS2 is semi-broken and randomly loses the ability to read discs. And currently only a PS2 can reliably play PS2 games (go figure). Until Sony admits taking away backwards compatibility was a bad idea and makes amends for it somehow, I'll need a functioning PS2 ._.
if you have a decent powered PC it can play ps2 games with an emulator, glitchy but should do the task.
But a used ps2 is pretty cheap now...
(Sony never admits to bad ideas...)
Yeah I was considering emulation, but I'll need a much better PC to play it on a satisfactory level. But to abandon even so much as technical and retail support for a system that has held them up for so many years and has a ridiculous amount of titles that retain a good degree of replay value is stupid. Luckily
some games are getting the PS3 remake attention they deserve. FFX, GoW and Shadow of the Colossus were a nice start, but even great games made from smaller developers or those with no intention of remastering leave me dusting off my PS2 still :/
