I honestly wish there were more parents like that, Slip. Hearing about these buffoons who are 16 and getting pregnant to get some face time on that ridiculous MTV show that glorifies teen pregnancy makes me discouraged for many members of our society. Not to mention most of those fools will never understand what it's like to truly sacrifice for unconditional love. I commend you for that, sir.
Can't really credit me.. It's not like I weighed the pros and cons, It's just an instinct. When my wife got pregnant, we were literally living off my grandparents (I had just got out of jail months before, and despite my attempts could not find a job) they were who raised me, so this was the equivalent of living with 'mom and dad'.. All the food came with them, and they were to put it mildly, always very stingy with money when it came to food, I lived my whole life off basically 5 dollars a day.. I could buy some really cheap ***and eat a few times, or buy one nutritionally sufficient meal..
That didn't change much, even when they learned she was pregnant. So I only ate once I had to.. Finally, we managed to get on food stamps (even though my grandparents made more than the minimum requirement, we had seperate fridges because a friend had given us one to seperate our food, my wife was working, but it was basically just a family friend of hers that hired her to give her money, even though she didn't need the help, didn't make much but it helped buy us food) and when they came around, I still couldn't really eat normally for weeks.. I had been off normal eating habits for so long, I would actually start to puke after eating more than a few bites.
