Frankenstein is a representation of the Romantic era due in part to the monster being an obvious allusion to the common man, and the obvious emphasis on Gothic influences, as well as Oriental due in part to the dark undertones as well as utilizing mystic boons. The moral of the story in that we must fear science is brought upon by the creation of something ungodly which will in turn cause destruction and decimation of both his creator as well as anything that comes in contact with him. This relates to Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, wherein science overrides nature and mysticism, where motherhood is an unheard of abomination and that sex is simply for recreation.
